spidermonkey
Hello all, I seem to have a slight/moderate knocking coming from the rear of the car, I have changed the hatch rubbers and this hasn't solved anything. The car has HKS coilovers with pillowball mounts, could this be the problem? (I have owned the car for nearly 7 years with no problem) Many thanks
BOB B
The only thing that comes to mind with your discription is bushes, does it seem to do it more when you go over small bumps? and is it quite a deep knock that seems to come more from under/outside the car? Bob.
Abz
How long have you had the HKS Coilovers on? I'd agree with Bob & can you advise on his question.
Nic
When do you hear the noise, just over bumps, all the time, under acceleration, cornering etc? Can you tell where the noise is coming from, underneath, in the boot, just on one side, etc? If not get someone to sit in the back and see if they can locate the source of the noise. Also put on a ramp and get it checked over underneath, could be number of things, suspension bushes/bolt, loose exhaust, diff bushes, suspension top mounts, loose wheel arch liner, etc.
Konrad
Subframe bolts might need tightening too

northeast_supra
Check your coils I had a knock and assumed it was rubbers/ bushes/ bolts but my dampers had split and well says it all really
Dnk
Exhaust knocking on body ? could be one of many things so pop it on a ramp for an hour and have a good look
spidermonkey
Cheers for the reply's, I have had the coilovers since I have had the car, It only seems to knock over bumps, It is hard to tell if it's from 1 side or both, but it sounds like it could be the bushes. I have heard that the top mounts aren't the best with the HKS stuff, could this be true? How hard a job and how much to replace the bushes? I have recently had the suspension looked at and the coils etc are ok ( I had to have some new adjustable platforms fitted, but it made the noise before that)
