mwilkinson
I have been ordering some parts from Boss Performance/Speedflow in Australia. I have been speaking to Matt Spencer there who has informed me of this oil sump modification. The following is taken from his email to me: "oil control plates we've helped develop for Supras. Our experience shows oiling issues in both drag and circuit use. Classic big end failure weeks after the damage was done . These plates stop that and drop windage im the bottom end without engine removal. Suit Both front and rear sumps. I've attached a pic of our oil control baffle plate. The pic is of our first generation design, which we have since modified further and are waiting for a new batch to arrive shortly. We've added some more control plates surrounding the pick up, this helps further reduce oil movements regardless of circuit or strip use. This is the street version that use all the factory bolting points, hardware, pick up and sensor location, and just like the race version it reduces oil surge, windage, and pick up starvation. (Remember if your handy with a spanner these can also be fitted in place in around 30mins). Price is $260AUD for the street version. Which suits all JZA80 Supra's or 1JZ and 2JZ REAR sump engines (TT or NA). Cheap insurance in my mind !" I also have a picture of the item. Can anyone comment of this item. Is it worth modifying a street car or is this purely a track mod. Is this solving a common problem? Comments and input welcome.

Terminator
Not required on a street car, very few cars have modified sumps even for track use. I have a modified pan number two but never fitted it. Toyota did a good job in their design. Until a certain now defunct trader came along a few years back, the MKIV had an almost unblemished record for having bullet proof cranks. The is not a problem to be fixed. mwilkinson
Good to know. Was thinking it was probably a bit of BS to sell a product. Most of the info provided seems to relate to track use as appose to road cars. Thanks for the input guys.
