They are solid state and AFAIK unless you can get it to turn on and connect to the PC you're pretty shafted I'm afraid. Depending on how it's broken you may be able to get it repaired and recover the data that way, someone with more knowledge would be able to confirm this though.

i was using it- funnily enough i was on this site!

and it froze on me

its done it before but this was different in that it wouldnt "master reset" (when you hold the two buttons together) and just froze for hours

i took it to a local phone repair guy who tried to open it but apparently it was glued at the top- weird, but i did see it & it was stuck.

anyway he says he cant get it to turn on.

usb is fine

battery should be fine

might be a software thing?

i have pics of my family, mainly baby that i need from when she was born

really upset as i was meant to back them up the night before but got called into work :(

Have you tried resetting it- Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds

:yeahthat:

Mine appeared to die a month after I bought it. Black screen and completely unresponsive. It wasn't recognised by the computer either. The used the solution above and it restarted fine. I've never had an issue since.
