kubus1
Has anyone ever used The Ecotek Valve on their Supra. I had it fitted on my last car but it wasnt a turbo. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. BTW: their Website: http://www.ecotekplc.co.uk

JamesG
I had one on my Celica for quite a while. Only because I borrowed it off a mate, though. It definitely improved fuel economy but made no difference to performance. The more I learn about car engines, the more the Ecotek sounds like a load of bollocks. There's no way I'd have one on my Supra. James.
Ian C
Those two statements are contradictory?! And I agree with the second one. The easy yardstick is - if it's cheap and easy to fit, and improves things like it says it does, then... why isn't it factory fitted? I've got some Snake Oil if anyone wants it... It improves power, responsiveness, performance, economy, wear rates, starting from cold, and anything else you want...
Doug
How much do you want for this oil Ian? I have my bank account details here for you
Terminator
Ian, is that the Snake oil that also can be used to enhance brake performance on track days by adding a few drops to the master cylinder? If so put me down for a few gallons, as I have used mine up and was looking fora new supplier.

The ecotek injects small amounts of swirly air into the plenum chamber, if I remember correctly. I think it's meant to improve combustion and slightly leans out the air/fuel mixture. I imagine it narrows the safely margins of your engine, so while it improved fuel economy on my car, there's all kinds of disadvantages that I wouldn't subject my Supra to. James. Digsy
But won't the O2 sensor spot the change in AFR and adjust the fuelling accordingly, cancelling the "leaning" effect out? Introducing "swirly" air into the plenum wouldn't make much difference IMHO, since there's a load of swirling still to happen as it finds its way into the intake runner, then past the valve head. Injecting it straight into the chamber would make a difference, but thats a bit beyond the scope of a fit it yourself kit!
Ian D
I have heard people using them to get through MOT's without cats, i think you can adjust them, make the car run very lean to pass then put it back to normal. But i wouldn't have one, now Snake Oil has 1000's of err good uses, how much you say i have £1000 cash in my hand is that enough???
