Matt H
Drivers, windscreen side bolt I think I've threaded it as it won't go back on properly. Has anybody ever replaced one before? What does it entail and is there anything you need to know before doing so? Also, I take it these are available as a part from Toyota? hodge
It's pretty straight forwards Matt if I recall. Remove the roof trim and unbolt the bolt and replace. If that makes sense.

Aye, course it does, nice and straight forward - Just how I like it Hopefully the roof thread isn't damaged too. I'll be phoning my local Toyota on Tues then. Matt H
Well I've taken the roof back as far as I can. The bolt I need to replace is underneath the skin of the roof and I'm not sure if it can be gotten to? Any ideas? (the bolt is located in the area of white)
Homer
I don't have access to EPC on this laptop, but looks like there is a plate sandwiched in there and weld closed. Potentially not easy to replace. No suggestions for now Matt, but someone with EPC should be able to see how that area is built.

Yes I think you're right; there's some form of plate that the bolt sits in and like you say, no apparent way in! What is EPC btw?
Matt H
Electronic Parts Catalogue. Wow, didn't know people had access to that! Is this it? http://www.yankeetoys.org/docs.htm
Homer
EPC has been publically available for as long as I've been here Never seen that link before, it looks a little small file size, but might do the trick. The one I use is Nic's full version, but is over 3 GB. My main PC is bust so can't access it now. I'm sure someone with the full supra one will be able to do a quick check on the parts tomorrow. nevins
So the bolt was cross threaded into the thread in the roof. Have you tried tapping it, as you may be able to save the thread. This would be the first step I would take before trying to gain access to the captive nut.
hodge
I recon tapping it is your only option.
Swampy442
Id have said re-tap it, just enough to clean the thread up and not cut a new one.

Hopefully someone wil pop along soon with that. Even though the following idea sounds good, I'd still love to know If I can get to it as it stands for future rref. I reckon my best bet is to take it to an engineering shop to have it done proffesionally. Cheers Chaps,

Cheers Chaps, Before you go to that bother I'd buy a tap and try to run it down myself. If you do wind up having to go to a machine shop then get them to insert a helicoil or a-n-other type of thread repair insert.

If that bolt won't come out, I should probably get it done right, otherwise I'm risking the entire roof being made redundant if I mess it up

AndrewOW
This one: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=215165&highlight=roof I don't think it's sold yet, but you could have that and get it painted if need be.
Matt H
Carbon's not my bag, but having it sprayed would be awesome. Still, it's £600 I'd prefer to spend elsewhere.
