Light weight, LOTS of poke and the `Ring

Lola T70 replica, (one of the good ones) a more than competent pedaller, no or little downforce and a desire to break the speedo = good fun. Between 6 and 7 minutes, when thery tyres are going off, it gets, er "interesting" :) I am having potentially marriage threatening ideas about a T70 replica and my Bonner V6 engine after looking at this :)

Very cool. My dad saw GD cars developing their T70 a while back when he visited them. We ended up building one of their cobra replicas as dad always liked the car and fancied giving it a go. Good quality fibreglass and a great ladder frame chassis. GD are putting LS chevy engines in now but they charge a bomb to do it. Still, good fun eh?

Oh, right, so your dad's a petrol head too is he? Cool! Any photos of the chassis frame you could share, if it's no trouble? I have spent an hour Googling, and have seen what looks like a better replica, chassis wise http://www.race-car-replicas.com/rcr70.html

There was a part completed one of these for sale in the UK, but the guy seems to have decided to keep it now:

Nice looking chassis!

I do have pictures of the build up, but this was before digital cameras so I'll have to scan them. We were looking at them recently actually, ahh the memories... We're modifying the dash area and putting in some retro switches at the moment. Give me a day or so and I'll stick 'em up in here.

That monocoque T70 chassis looks the real deal. Would love to have a go at one of those.

What an awesome bit of driving, and an awesome bit of kit. The LS engine is well on the way to becoming the new 'rover v8' of today. I believe even TVR's are now going to be using them

They're gospel for so many companies now. TVR (as it's known now...) is talking about it, but nothing concrete yet AFAIK. Still, the Hennesey Venom GT is using one and that's set to break several records.

The driver is Dario Margutti, from Bergamo, Italy-based Gardner Douglas (and Caterham) distributor Mythos Cars.

I wonder how long it takes to weld the T70 chassis...

First, many thanks for the photo scans Ed, I can see you are both fans of V8's from that :) Much appreciated. Blimey, the T70 chassis looks like someone has found 600 feet of steel tube and was determined he was going to use every last inch in the chassis :) Looks a bit OTT and very heavy! Will check out Dario in something a little more nimble later, cheers :)
