amazing how the energy companies inc the oil ones keep making record profits.

Indeed, BP only recently recorded record profits of double their previous year, but apparently its nothing to do with pump prices, I am not convinced.

Wait until the election is over, A LOT of things are going to go up, we are all going to be quite a bit worse off for some time

I am sure everyone on benefit and scrounging off the system will be just fine, just people trying to make something of themselves will be forced into supporting them.

Its the UK way don't you know

I think BP will be putting it's prices up after it's paid for the cost of this oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico.

Of course, why should their problem hit their profits/shareholders  it just makes a complete joke of it all.

I am a firm believer that companies who provide essential services such as fuel and water should be none profit making, fair enough if they re-invest the money back into new technologies but to make a few rich people richer from something such as fuel I say is criminal exploitation of the masses :(

The Govt say they cannot do anything about fuel prices so how come we have the dearest fuel in Europe???? They must think we are stupid, everytime they are skint they stick a couple of pence on fuel and we pay up like the mugs we are.

Time to get organised?

Organise what exactly? Every organised stand thus far has been a half baked spectacle of a few people with flags while the rest of the country carries on like normal. Had this been on the continent half of the country would have been shut down. Unfortunately WE as a country have not given the government any reason to fear us. Prices haven't just shot up in one hit, they have been steadily climbing over the past 5 years and the best we can do is moan about it while we stand on the forecourt getting our fix. We are addicted to oil and will pay anything for it, oil companies and governments know this and won't change until we stop putting money in their pockets.

LOL Lets protest fuel prices and drive our bikes needlessly all day. :innocent:

Sort of defeats the objective doesn't it. You're still putting money into the big boys wallets even when you protest:d

If they really wanted to be taken seriously they'd have pushed their bikes the whole way!

Ivans idea may have worked

Fuel costs will have to increase to compensate the government when more electric cars start appearing, either that or our electricity will be taxed a huge amount regardless of what we use it for.

Let's not forget the massive increase in road tax from April 2010 for new cars too, imagine being lucky enough to buy something in band M that does 10mpg, you might as well just get your wage paid straight to 10 Downing Street.

Am I correct in saying that in one litre we paying 60% of it in tax? So if petrol is £1.19 we are paying like 70p just in tax alone? Then on top we are paying road tax, more tax & tax & VAT & tax & tax for the sake of tax & tax for being a tax?

I am lucky I rely on the trains & buses, but even so I am still outraged.

I really feel for you people who have to drive everyday to work, it is just unfair.

How do we resolve this? EVERY single person in the UK needs to be involved, well technically we could get away with 70% of the UK's motorists getting involved. We need to halt everything to a standstill to show the government enough is enough.

Problem is though too many people are just too lazy to do anything about it.
