I've just has a full alignment check done on my 1993 RZ.

Everything was within tolerence apart from the front toe in which was just slightly outside tolerence, I already knew about this because Paul K fitted a replacement steering rack for me recently and told me to get the tracking checked.

The guy said he was impressed with how close to spot on Paul had got it.

Not bad for a 12 year old car to not really need anything adjusting!

I might have some steering rack issues...how did you know it had gone
It hadn't gone, I thought it had but changing the rack didn't fix my no-power-steering problem. Paul got it working in the end but that was after he'd changed the rack for nothing.

Hey m8 - I'm only up t'other side of Twickenham

Will do Paul, Jake's obviously chuffed with what you did for him.

No dangerous issues at the mo, just want to do some proper maintainance at some point, with someone who knows where and what they're :stickpoke at in a supe. You're just round the corner anyhoo, all I can say is 'see ya soon'!

That was a long-term prob if I recall, can you divulge what the problem was, seeing as you'd done the fluid, pump and rack I didn't think there was much left :)

Blimey, old thread.

Sadly the guy that checked the alignment didn't notice that the new steering rack was only held in with one bolt!.

how much is a new rack ???
About £600 for a new one. Luckily I picked up a good used one from eBay for the remarkable price of £26 and free delivery courtesy of Ian C

According to Mr Kent the PAS pump I got from CW was no good (seems unlikely, but that's what he told me) and fitting a third one, from Gav's car, solved the problem.

yes but that doesn't answer the fecking question on how much they cost does it

sorry ignore that last one

Blimey, you're rather tetchy for someone that hi-jacked a year old thread demanding prices for new Toyota parts. I did laugh when I saw that you realised I had in fact answered your question.
