Wez
Why not go for HP procurves? Same inside, different outer shell and lots lots cheaper:D I am 100% with you on this but the customer always wants the cisco label, crazy eh. I posted this to get an idea of what sort of price people/companies were supplying these at as I have been offered them at what looks like very competitive rates. Pete
Very likely not to be official UK Cisco channel stuff then. They go wrong - you're on your own.
Wez
How does that work then, I would have thought if its Cisco and it breaks you send it back to Cisco, are you saying this is not the case? This would be a big selling point.
JustGav
You usually would have a support agreement with the supplier... If something goes wrong it is up to them to sort it out with Cisco. Even when I was doing the European and African networks for DHL with approx 2300 routers, we still had to go thru the supplier and not cisco... Pete
If the supplier isn't shipping proper UK market Cisco kit, they'll not be up to supporting. We as a supplier have FULL backing from Cisco technical guys. If we mention that we've bought grey market kit they'll cancel our partnership and certainly not support the product. Unless you're a massive buyer in which case anyone will bend over backwards, give you swap kits etc
JustGav
Rouge, you are completely and utterly correct.... Cisco are very funny with their support...if you don't go thru their channels they will just slam the door in front of you...

This would be a big selling point. Localised warranties. We've shipped kit all over the world for VPNs etc..if they go wrong, they have to come back here regardless of wether there is a local Cisco office. JustGav
Sorry, I've had a crap day designing diaster recovery solutions for a big project, with VERY little help from the trolls in the office...

JustGav
I would jack it in in a heartbeat to play with cars, but sadly doesn't pay anywhere near what I earn. Sucks I know...

If you believe its too good to be true, then it probably is. Feel free to email me the details of the supplier and I can get it checked out. regards

Not intended to be difficult, intended to be scalable, although I understand where you are coming from, considering that we play in every technology market out there there will inherently be complexity involved in our processes, although we are trying to minimise this as best as we can. regarding the Grey-Imports...well, this is a problem that needs to be addressed, (if indeed it was grey) I know Heena... We bought grey once in error from Enta. Only because they had stock. Got slapped wrists. What gets me is how people think we're expensive when compared to the grey market dealers. For a company like us only starting out with Cisco equipment we don't have the luxury of dealing with large corporations that already understand the benefits of genuine uk product. Our customers are only interested in price How is Enta "allowed" to sell the grey stuff? Surely it should be treated like how MS treat licenses. I guess that's the difference between a license and a physical product. I've seen some massive changes from Cisco in the last 12 months as they've tried to make things simpler. Only problem from our perspective is that your guys seems to think that a buyer of Cisco kit takes weeks to make their mind up. Our customers know what they want and just want it now so registering customer leads etc simply doesn't happen.
DaveRex
I come across grey cisco kit now and again, we don't and never have sold it, trouble is, customers don't see the value in UK stuff, kits kit and its works where ever you buy it from at the end of the day Microsoft grey licence isn't legal here full stop so theres no point trying to sell that
