SteveR
That is...... well I'm lost for words TBH! How is 266mph even possible, let alone within a standing mile?
Abz
Doesn't look that quick! Well the flyby did, but even mine would after a 3 mile end run! Maybe it's just me & believing the American's

Rob_Mitchell
that fly by is mentally fast lol. the top vid didnt seem quick compared to some standing starts i have seen.
Thorin
Yeah it's certainly traveling in the second vid (although no real way of telling if that really is 200mph+ let alone 266). But the first vid it doesn't look very fast at all.
tbourner
I agree, hardly impressive as videos go. The idea that it might be 2200 WHP is a bit crazy though - probably explains the tentative pull away!
tbourner
1900 HP apparently: http://jalopnik.com/5524786/heffner-ford-gt-sets-26693-mph-standing-mile-record
Septic
Wow. As if the mpg on that wasn't bad enough
sdistc
Apparently there are some doubts as to the accuracy of the timing equipment. It would seem a bit strange to me that all the fastest times are achieved at the Miami Mile, and never backed up at Texas Mile or Maxton. But for what it's worth, until there are a consistent set of rules and regulations on the running of Mile events, all "records" are questionable.
