My New Project

Ok, as some of you may know, this weekend I made another purchase, I bought a 1995 Eunos Roadster(or MX-5 as it's called over here), it is something that I can make into a proper B-Road killer and should be good for my European run later in the year, I was going to take the Supra but due to a few days in Corsica the Supra would not be very good on the small twisties.

Anyway first up the pics as it was on Sunday:

Obviously I didn't really want to drive it looking like this so I have been ordering goodies that have slowly been arriving this week, so far I have ordered the following:

Meister R coilovers

Front Splitter

Stint Precious wheels, need a refurb but rare as fook(there the wheels that Rota Cups are based on)

Tuckin 99 Wide arches

Rollcage

Headunit adapter harness and fasia plate

4x Toyo Proxes T1R's

4x 25mm Hubcentric Spacers

So this week I have been recieving a few boxes of goodies:

First up on the list was to replace those very poor speakers and stereo, so out comes the stereo, only to find I need an adapter harness:

image

So I decided to move onto the speakers, of which I found out why the last speakers were so bad:

Anyway, after I quickly made up some adapter plates, the new ones were ready to go in:

So that was one job done but there was still enough daylight tonight to get 1 coilover on, I went for the Meister R's due to raving reviews of them and there fully adjustable, plus they look rather snazzy:

So still waiting on a few parts to give it a big transformation this weekend, and the next parts on the list which hopefully I'll have found by next week are:

RS R Exhaust System

Hardtop

Eaton M45 Supercharger(off a Mini Cooper S)

Then as soon as the car is done to this standard it's going to be wrapped black.

So hopefully a few more updates very soon.

Why not just buy one of the 1000's that already has track mods?

Seems a shame to "spoil" one that looked to be OK in a slightly retro way.

I just wanted a proper project, something that I can take from beginning to end in the knowledge that everything is done well and no shortcuts are taken and built exactly the way I want it.

Fair enough, looks like it'll be a fun one :)

Hoping it will be:)

Quick update on the car: I got home to find my arches and stereo harness had arrived yesterday(will get some pics up tonight) but unfortunately the tires haven't come, so my hope that I would have the wheels on this weekend are looking doubtfull.

I thought I would add another quick update to this as a few more parts have arrived for me, sadly though, not the tires, so still waiting to put my new wheels on it.

  • 5 weeks later...

Right, it's been a few weeks since my last update, been touring the country for concerts(mainly 'you know who' :D ) and jap shows so the 5 has been left for a few weeks, but this weekend I started back on it.

First up a few pics after a good clean with wheels and Meister R's fitted:

Then was a trial fit with the hard top, but still waiting for my side mounting brackets before it goes back on:

image

Then it was time for the big job, since I had no protection in the case of a roll and my old hood was tired with a rip in the rear screen, that a previous owner had done a specialist repair on(aka plaster sellotape everywhere), it was time to fit my roll bar and new hood.

Roll Bar:

Hood:

So first up was to start stripping the rear area and removing the old hood.

Before:

After:

Then it was time to cut a few bits, mount the roll bar, drill some holes, mount some plates and bolt it all in:

image

Then start putting it all back together:

image

Then put the hood and all the carpets back:

and finally the finished pics:

So that's for another week.

However, I have actually decided to put the wheels up for sale shortly as I want wider wheels, I have the spacers here to fill out the arches that are going on it, but want a meaner look from the rear and want some wheels that really fill the new Tuckin' arches.

Anyway, comments/criticisms welcome and any pointers :)
