Bill Prawn
I think this must now lie with UEFA. The Premier League/FA made the decision to send the top four teams from the Premiership into next seasons Champions Cup. Now the Champions cup is going to be undermined by not having or at least giving the holders the chance to defend their title. The FA are quite correct in stating the top four enter the competition (the fact that on points difference, Liverpool were closer to being relegated from the Premiership rather than winning it show that the FA are correct in their decision. So were Everton come to that). Surely now though UEFA must look at the rules, even if it means Liverpool playing a pre-preliminary round against the lowest ranked team (someone from Iceland or Albania or some other such place) to enable the winner of that tie to go into the Preliminary round. I'm sure there must be a way around this. Because this situation is not acceptable. The winner of the World Cup used to get automatic qualification to the finals, that is now no longer the case but at least they get the cahnce to qualify, Liverpool don't even have that luxury. Chipmunk
Been all over the news that they aren't going to let them in......even though the spanish did it for Real Madrid UEFA are passing the buck on this one firmly back into the FA's court. When Real Madrid won the trophy, they finished fifth in the league, and the Spanish FA replaced the fourth placed team Real Zaragoza with them. Everton , you'd better watch out ! Barry
(We like Arsenal and Pompey and hate Saints and Man Utd. We only want Chelsea and Liverpool to do well to irritate Man Utd fans) Jake, I like you! Have a look at this pic, Gerrard with the European Cup...

mkirby
I dont think they should be able to defend it, the cup is the champions league cup so its the champions of the domestic league qualify and in our case the top 4 teams in the league. UEFA have already said tonight that they will deffo not change the rules this year and rightly so and it is upto the FA to choose the 4 teams but i just heard from a source that Everton have already threatened the FA with legal action if they try to kick them out so looks like it will be at least a few years before they can have another go!! Thought the pic was funny lol Mike
Bobbeh
Yes! After that performance, the teams they had to beat to get there and the way their fans have acted throughout, they have to be there next year. Not at the expense of Everton though. Kick Arsenal out, they shit their pants as soon as they cross the channel
mkirby
As much as i would love to see Arsenal kicked out they qualified fair and square, you cant just change the rules because you dont happen to like them this year!! Could you imagine what the liverpool fans would be saying if it was everton who had just won it and they wanted liverpools place in the cup!!
