a98pmalcolm
Hay all. Ok as some of your know through my previous threads i was plannig on refurbishing my wheels and repainting my brake calipers. Well during my week off i spent from Wednesday through to Sunday working very hard on them with blisters on my hand ans all muscles aching i think it was worth it! Were is some before, during and after pics for you lot to have a look at Some of the equipment: Wheels Before: Stiping the wheels and cleaning and replacing all rim bolts: The result of tightening 160 bolts as tight and i could with a socket set: Repainted the calipers back withe a blue Supra sticker with silver outer: Respayed the centre caps silver and new logos for the inners: And the Finished Result! foggy147
Is there a good way of removing all the lacquer from the alloys as the ones on mine are peeling and would be good to try and strip it all off to re-do?
mathew
when sanding the wheels does it matter what motion you do? can you do it in a circular motion or should you stick with back and forth?

DaveR
That all looks good. Nice one! I stick with the view that red calipers would've looked better, though...

DodgyRog
Looks great:d Where did you get the stainless steel polish kit from and does it fit in a drill or only a dremel. Also were did you get the Supra decals with the outline, they look:cool:
Dnk
They look great mate but didn't you use a torque wrench to tighten all the bolts, its very easy to over tighten these size rim screws and then stretch the threads. I've had a search and it looks like 24/26 ft/lbs of torque is recomended for the 2 piece BBS LM rim bolts Edited April 28, 2010 by Dnk (see edit history)
a98pmalcolm
yer i just did them as tight as i can, bearing in mind there not rim bolts i used. I used normal M8 stainless steel bolts with zink plated nuts. The polishing kit is for drills and it came from halfords £16.99 but i'll be honest....its pretty naff! lol The supra stickers came from my local graphics maker "ant graphics" only set me back £4. i do get on with them well so they always help me out with the price!
