merckx
Can anyone tell me what these are like with regards to corrosion of the standard end fittings which they say are zinc plated? You can pay extra for the stainless fittings, I'm just wondering if it's worth it? Thanks
Scott
I went with the stainless just to be on the safe side. The Zinc coating will be fine for a while, won't last forever though.
merckx
I went with the stainless just to be on the safe side. Yes, I'm thinking the same. I can't find the hoses with stainless fittings for a reasonable price. About £55 for the ones that are zinc plated on ebay. About £74 for the stainless fittings at Demon Tweeks, there aren't many places that sell these.
Scott
I got mine from CW. I think they were around £65 delivered at the time. I paid a little extra for the red sleeves as well. CW was the cheapest I could find
Robzki
I thought most ebay listings give you the option of stainless fittings for a small charge around £5? I have bought several recently for the bikes from several traders and they were all the same, within a quid or two anyway.
SteveC
Mine have the zinc plated fittings and don't look quite so good now. I'd of paid a bit extra and bought the hoses with stainless fittings - if I'd known it was an option when I bought them...
Scott
How long did they last Steve?
jackso11
I emailed the guy selling them on ebay and the reply was he can supply the stainless ended ones for £62 but it will take 10days as they have to be made up. Do-luck are stainless for £62 also and are ready made, and are purple if you want to add a little colour.
SteveC
How long did they last Steve? They're still ok, just not so shiny now. I don't think they're going to be a big problem at all, but I would have gone for the stainless if I'd known. They've been on around 18 months. (edit: I should add the car's been off the road most of that time!)

Yeah thats the ones I have on the car, look good quality, but not a nice colour imho. but hey you can't see 'em fitted, least not with my wheels. jackso11
you got standard wheels?
Robzki
No, some tsw's that came with the car. its not that you can't see the lines, its just that the wheels are so 'busy' it takes your eye away from them. jackso11
ahh. I see. I was going to go for do-luck but don't want purple. Yellow bilsteins, red brake calipers, purple brake lines and gun metal wheels with a polished lip = messy.
Robzki
I resemble that remark... yellow bilsteins, red calipers, busy wheels.....and purple brake lines Its not a nice purple either Would have preferred clear coated but I was under time constraints at the time (mot) Good luck with the search. jackso11
are they the ones with stainless ends for that price? I was going to buy some rubber hoses from whifbitz the other day for about £8, until I discovered the postage was more than £8!
