fuldhat
Hi. Had a geo setup done and steering setup done a little week ago at a good place in denmark, using the "Hunter machine". I have noticed that when you drive straight and just hold the speed, then I need to have the steering wheel just a little to the left. Which is a little anoying.. When I then give it some power, then I need to hold the steering wheel dead straight, to go straight. Which is fine.. What could that be? Homer
Have you checked the tyre pressures? Other than that, any suspension issue should have been picked up during the geo check...
fuldhat
Will check the tire pressure again, to be sure that everything is fine. Else I have to go back, for them to check if anything is wrong.
nigelboyne
it could be the steering wheel was not fully straight when they clamped it or it moved while adjusting the suspension
SteveR
Was the road level?
Chiefgroover
What were the settings used?
adnanshah247
nackered wheels or tyres would be my best bet.
AJI
Could be a few things as mentioned. What was the 'thrust line' on the final set up? Did they give you a print out? If the thrust line is not centred then you will always be correcting the steer with power on/off. Or it could be that your previous settings were quite a way out and have worn the tyres treads in such a shape that the thurst is not going straight? (just a thought)
csa
what place did you go for? recommendations needed :-)
fuldhat
SteveR: Yes it was, and tested it several places. CheifGroover: The original settings from Toyota. Thats only one you can get your set up by in Denmark. Adnanshah247: Wheels are in perfect condition, Tires are only worn 10%, but the left back tire is brand new. AJI:Yes they gave me a print out. I am going to the UK the next days, but I can scan it on monday and post the results here. Regarding the thrustline, I think its called "Løbsvinkel" in danish(all though googles says its flow line??, and its 0.01 degrees, so I think that as close as you can get. CSA: Ivar jensen auto gummi i farum. (They do Kleemann cars and has done several Supras. A very good place and takes great care.
fuldhat
Hi again. Here is the geo setup in pdf format. Top one is before, bottom after.Geo-Fuldhat.pdf
AJI
From those current settings I can not see anything that would cause a big problem in terms of handling/steering. Could be worn suspension bushes? A 4-wheel laser alignment is done statically, so actual power on/off might be causing movement on the suspension when driving.
fuldhat
Just bumping, for anyone having any new ideas. Seems to have gotten a bit worse. Well give them a call tomorrow, and set a date for new geo setup.
Dnk
You need to check all the bushes and ball joints in the suspension arms for any play as it sounds like your geometry is moving as you accelerate and decelerate, or something is not tight if your noticing it getting worse and i'd be having a look sooner rather than later. Having another geo set up wont cure the problem Edited June 3, 2010 by Dnk (see edit history)
bodilx6
Hey, you used Ivar Jensen i Farum? Where do you live, I use them as well and are in Farum (my birthtown) almost weekly. If you are sure that it is not the pressure (in the rear tires), I have another setup that might help you. It is set up by Chris Wilson on this forum (I brought the car to him in the UK) and takes the angle of the road (right lane is always a bit lower on the right side) into account. I've had Ivar Jensen measure it out for me, so I have the setup from their geo machine.
fuldhat
DnK: Okay I will get that done asap. bodilx6: Yes it was in Farum. I used to live in "værløse", but now live in sweden. I am very interested in that setup you got. Could you send it to me via email or?
bodilx6
here you go: http://idisk.me.com/stefanbovien/Public/geoAFTER.jpg This was JUST after having been by Chris. Now, this of cause might not be a direct fit for you but it might be worth looking into. The reason for the two sides not being alike is that it is set up to accomodate the road camber to help tyre wear as well as it should be less susceptible to wandering. I have not notice any difference in wear on the tires side to side, but I do have noticeably more wear on the inner side of both front tires, but I guess that is common and due to the negative camber.
