jihwaan
Just finished putting my new bodykit (veilside copy front and side skirts with trial rear bar and carbon top secret style bonnet) after getting it back from painters (see attached images of my black supra). Also had my engine cover painted, fitted my tow hitch, intrcooler, twin blow off valves, oil cooler and filter relocate, trd speedo, P/S cooler, do luck rear tension set, c-west light covers etc Still have a lot to do but its getting there slowly.. http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=108748&stc=1&d=1272200119 http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=108749&stc=1&d=1272200119 http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=108750&stc=1&d=1272200119 http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=108751&stc=1&d=1272200119 http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=108752&d=1272194627 http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=108753&stc=1&d=1272200119 http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=108754&stc=1&d=1272200119 http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=108755&stc=1&d=1272200119 http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=108756&stc=1&d=1272200119 Also did a mini photochop on my old silver supra which i have now sold- I think it turned out ok for a quick job. ( I have seen these done on SF so decided to give it a go- I think they look cool)... http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=108757&stc=1&d=1272194696 also mini photo-chopped my new supra- another very quick and rough job but you get the idea: http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=108758&stc=1&d=1272195342 Edited April 25, 2010 by jihwaan (see edit history)
jihwaan
No comments? I thought I would have at least got a "veilside looks pants"... Bear in mind I have done everything myself except spray the colour on the kit- from prep to fitting the kit & fitting the coolers and everything else...(and there was soo much prep and fitting- bloody ebay kits suck bigtime- guess you get what you pay for..) Geo
Not a fan mate TBH. Looks better squished up. Paint looks good though, but as with all black cars there prone to getting chipped really easy.
ManwithSupra
I am not a fan of the bodykit, but i can appricate the work thats gone into putting it on getting it all aligned correctly etc and looking at it from that point of view it looks good mate nice work. jihwaan
Not a fan mate TBH. Looks better squished up. Paint looks good though, but as with all black cars there prone to getting chipped really easy. hehe -there is not one chip on that paintwork anywhere now (and on that note the solid black is the easiest colour in the world to remove chips from- I cant believe how well they come out after it being done right). The paint on this is absolutely flawless- has taken a lot of TLC from the previous owner and myself to get there. And I can appreciate not many people like the veilside kits but I do- and to me thats all that matters. I do like the stock US supra look also but I have always wanted this exact setup and now I have it. Maybe one day i will swap the front for a do-luck but TBH now I have this on there I like it more.. I am not a fan of the bodykit, but i can appricate the work thats gone into putting it on getting it all aligned correctly etc and looking at it from that point of view it looks good mate nice work. Thanks, much appreciated. It has taken a good 40+ hours to get this all lined up and to fit as close to perfect as I can get- but thats the point for me- to do it myself and be happy with what I have achieved.. jihwaan
Of course I am open to comments- just pointing out that pple can call it good bad or absolute sh*te. flame away as far as I am concerned- doesn't bother me at all as I am very happy with it.. and quite proud of it tbh.. But the more comments the merrier as far as am concerned- good or bad I will take them on board- fortunately though I am not one of the 'purists' and sincerely believe that these cars are at their best when modified (or not) to each persons taste - well within reason I have seen some shocking examples that should be put out of their misery..(lest we all drive around in exactly the same car- ooh that wuld be exciting)... Maybe I should really chav it up with neon lights n stuff..lol- not likely.. Edited April 26, 2010 by jihwaan (see edit history)
scotty71
Looks good some nice work there. Will that big Aussie license plate restrict airflow to the intercooler??
imi
Of course I am open to comments- fair play.... Maybe I should really chav it up with neon lights n stuff..lol- not likely.. think you already have with that kit and the rear shades (other than the trial rear)
jihwaan
fair play.... think you already have with that kit and the rear shades (other than the trial rear) Well if thats chav so be it- I is a chav. how' bout 'at 'en 'A' lads? Lol... the funny thing is I was always intending to do this exact setup but with a do-luck front... kinda glad I didnt now tbh.. Thing is I can understand 'purists' whining about modifying a lambo or ferrari etc but to be dismayed at someone modifying a japanese import car (within reason) confuses me- I mean the japanese import scene has been developed and pushed forward by the car owners modifying their cars.. the whole industry is based around this but people will turn their noses up when someone does something that isn't to their exact tastes... "you can have any flavour you like as long as its vanilla johnny"... Edited April 25, 2010 by jihwaan (see edit history)
Supra Gaz
That's really nicely done mate, I agree with you completely about it being your choice with what you do with YOUR car. That bonnet is lovely, topsecret? Where did you get it from? Nice wheels too....
jihwaan
Looks good some nice work there. Will that big Aussie license plate restrict airflow to the intercooler?? Thanks for the feedback, and , yes, unfortunately that licence plate will restrict airflow quite considerably. Am contemplating getting new plates- maybe something like: "CHAV" or "YUBJLS4" lol... no srs I have to sort something out in that area because it is far too bg- but i dont track the car so shouldn't be too much of a problem...that said I have extended the fibreglass on the bumper to fit the intercooler perfectly (it has a rubber lip that presses against the cooler to ensure every last drop of air from the 'mouth' of the bumper travels through the cooler) so it should be ok- the air should merely be deflected from the numberplate and onto the cooler anyways.. Thanks! - The bonnet is a top secret carbon fibre knock off from china- good fit though and comes with standard latches so don't need bonnet pins- although the latches needed a little work to get it to close easily- nothing an hour or so with a die grinder and some patience didnt fix though.. and it doesnt have the extra vent above the turbos which I feel makes it look off balance anyways- cheap as chips too really for a CF bonnet..
