a98pmalcolm
well it depends if u can get away with it.... When i went to the states a few years back i took an empty suitcase and spent about £750 on clothes... if i bought them here i would have paid double as DC and other skate clothes are sooo expensive in this country. I sent the recipts via post back to mine so if they opened my case they would nevr know Obviously a bit different to car parts... Id give an e-mail to inland revnue (i think its them that deals with it all) Paul
toyoti143
i bought 18" used volk in USA and i think that i paid about 75 usd per wheel by usps, about 15-20 days in your home. then i had to pay 20% of the total bill, about 200 euros,i don´t know how much is in UK the custom fees

I assume it's 17.5%, the same a VAT over here??
Chris Wilson
You pay import duty AND VAT. You need to find someone sending a car or something containerised from the USA and have them put in with the big stuff, like Jurgen does.
Paul
You pay import duty AND VAT LOL, not really looking good. At £1200 for the wheels, the cost comes to nearly £2000 with shipping etc and 17.5% vat and now there is import duty too !!! Don't know anyone with a container coming from the states so it don't look good
toyoti143
and they can not be sent by USPS???it´s a lot cheaper. when I've bought in the U.S. or Japan whenever I've asked the seller a small bill to pay here 20% of the false invoice, but now is much more strict here in Spain, and you can not submit documents with payment paypal customs. are all thieves. Paul
The problem with reducing the invoice/bill is that the insurance cover will be reduced too so if they go missing or are damaged I've got a major problem.
toyoti143
yes,it´s true, but i think it is difficult that they missing or damaged if the rims have a good protection. the total cost difference is much,i think that you must risk.

supra steveo
think what the shipping company in the US has done is price each wheel at $1000 so the VAT and duty is totally blowing me out the water
supra steveo
just got off the phone to customs and the above is what has happened i should of only paid £170 VAT for all 4 wheels but it looks like they only have 3 of the wheels at the moment after ive paid for all the import duty and VAT i need to take it up with customs and they will refund me the difference so looks like customs will be owing me over £

supra steveo
update: all 4 wheels have been picked up and are now waiting for me in Ipswich, to get a hold of them i need to pay my import tax and its been screwed up by usps by them valuing each wheel at $1000, what i need to do now is pay the import tax, that stands at around £600, then i need to get the customs paper work off all 4 boxes and send that off with my paypal transaction print-off and a copy of how much postage was from the seller so they can tax me accordingly, a little bit perved off but ive been told by customs i will get the money back
