randy
My throttle is kinda sticky when I push down on it, but feels fine after the initial movement. But feels sticky on top. Any idea what I could do apart from buying a new cable?

Branners
I nearly popped round on Saturday as I was up at Leons, but didnt know where your new house was, so I didnt. Leon said it looks lovely, nice deep shine, top job. JB
Terminator
If it is not the mat;) use one of your beautiful assistants to press the pedal while you check the throttle mechanism on the throttle body. Check the inner cable route to the bulkhead for obstruction. If it is not that, you may have a strand or two broken, if so change the cable quickly, before it gets worse and jams at WOT. Who do I contact, to complain about the irrelevant off topic chat in a technical thread:flame Dev ;)

Guest Terry S
How are you doing Randy? That is one damn impressive 1/4 time with your mods. Care to share your launch secrets?
Ian C
Yeah, I saw and wondered at that myself. That's half a second faster than any other stock-based (Tesco trim) TT we know of on here, and this car also wheelspins 295's in, what was it, 3rd gear? In hot weather too - You should get over here and win the Santa Pod competition JB is sorting out for us! Then show us the 100bhp sleeper nitrous kit you have installed -Ian
Guest Terry S
What impressed me more was that the car is running 1.1 bar! "OMG! 4500 RPM to get a kick. I have to praise the jap spec here as the torque and response is phenomenal. I run with a 30% mix of toluene in my jap spec to get close to 98 Octane. Running boost of 1.1 bar and trying to launch as low as 1800 RPM is a real challenge as the wheels simply break loose even crusing on 2nd at 2500 RPM and punching it down makes the wheels spin. " I think he must be slipping the clutch, in which case it won't last long.
Ian C
My mistake - 2nd gear, not 3rd. Slipping the clutch? Surely you have to do that a bit for a power launch, to avoid huge wheelspin or bogging down? 1.1bar, though - must be driving on ice -Ian
randy
:D Well the 12.59 time was running on 1.3 bar boost and ofcourse getting a good launch. By the way this was with my old wheel and tire set up. I think I should better it with my new super fat rubber? But I don't think I have the nerve to run 1.3 bar anymore tho. With those wheels and tyres you will probably get in the 11's.
Guest Terry S
Randy, could you talk me through your launch technique as this is going to be my biggest problem.
Ian C
Terry - Rev to 6,000rpm and sidestep the clutch, of course. Then, under the cover of all the tyre smoke, sneak into the control centre and type in whatever 1/4mile time you want... Face it, highly-strung-peaky-turbo-boy, you are either going to bog, spin, or lunch the clutch. That'll teach you to have a faster car than me -Ian
