fuldhat
Hi. I have a 93 TT6 with a stock flywheel and clutch ( I presume) When you start it up from cold, then all is normal and no rattle. Then after you have driven a good trip and park it, there is a rattle from the gearbox, if I push the clutch pedal down, then the rattle is disappears. Sometimes though, when you park it after a drive, then there is no rattle, and then after a little while, the rattle begins. What to here?... little num
sounds like the duelmass section has broke, will never get worst or break, people will think you have a uprated clutch if you keep it
fuldhat
Hmm... Well any other things it could be?
little num
might be a worn thrust bearing but normally thats a chattering sound, like dry bearing and normally do it hot or cold but if you have to change the flywheel then id put a clutch in anyway to eliminate all clutch problems. Rinus
dualmass flywheel... Is not damping the vibration of the engine anymore, this makes a rattling sound in the gearbox..
fuldhat
Okay... Will this cause more wear on bearings and such? What is the price for an OEM toyota flywheel in the UK? I will check the price for a new one at toyota on monday in denmark, but it might be cheaper to buy in the UK, so if anyone knows the price, that would be cool.. And then I might as well change the clutch aswell to new one.
Rinus
In Holland a new LUK flywheel is +/-320 euro, but you've got to hand in the old one for that price, otherwhise +75euro...
fuldhat
Okay thanks.
Chris Wilson
Could be a worn gearbox. Pressing the clutch pedal stops the gearbox internals turning. They aren't the quietest of things with some miles on them. The dual mass flywheel can be tested for wear with the gearbox off.

fuldhat
Well the gearbox works perfect and the whole car has only done 65000 miles. Could be a worn gearbox. Pressing the clutch pedal stops the gearbox internals turning. They aren't the quietest of things with some miles on them. The dual mass flywheel can be tested for wear with the gearbox off.
