to my understanding, after a scouring the vvoc, through the oil cooler is where the oil is getting into the water, a lot of the other owners seem to overcome this problem by bypassing the oil cooler, apparently the oil cooler does very little under normal driving conditions.

However, i cannot do this myself and have just spent £450 on the car and cannot afford to spend more getting this job fixed

Hey dean, the oil cooler is not really that bad a job...looks worse than it is.

The hardest part is cleaning out the cooling system of oil!!

Oil cooler is located in the center of the v in the block, under the inlet manifolds.

I might have had this off you but you so far away from me :-(

C/L fault is probably the relay in the drivers side kick panel or the remote it's self...i even think i have one at home?

Good luck with the sale fella.
