devan
Hi all, Been thinking about this lately, obviously in a modern Toyota VVTI kicks in, but what happens and whats it called on my JSpec N/A when it suddenly picks up power at 5500RPM? Cheers, Ash.

Homer
so what would be the result of perminently opening the plenum? The non-technical answer is that it would reduce engine torque at lower-mid rpm range.
barneybrendan
ive removed the butterfly in mine and the shaft and had the hole welded just to see what it will do.

barneybrendan
With the SC that would be a very good move that was what i was thinking as the sc should produce the torque i need and might well of been restricted by the butterfly.if it wasnt for that i would of left it there as it seems a good bit of designing the way it works. steely
seems simple now you pointed it out so its no good to remove the butterfly unless you have a charger??
Homer
so its no good to remove the butterfly unless you have a charger?? In simple terms, removing the butterfly (without forced induction) would result in loss of torque in the lower-mid range.
barneybrendan
seems simple now you pointed it out so its no good to remove the butterfly unless you have a charger?? nope it will make the car pretty flat low down. beaten to it
