Are you James May ? 45-50 mpg isnt attractive? after sprinting away from the traffic lights at warp speed.....you must do the same speed as me.Thats when mpg is more important than mph.My heart says mph but my head says mpg...I can have a beautifull car and economy. Dnk
For the mileage i do in my car its not worth it, i'd consider fitting it to a daily driver though but not my supra, i also don't want to lose the spare wheel or have an awfull looking tank filling up the boot. cobrastang
Its getting a 70 litre, long and slim cylinder tank fitted right at the back behind the lights.I have the little cover thingy in the back so it will be invisible.I dont use the boot anyway,so its a sensible option for me.70 litres for £35 woohooo bring it on. jagman
Its one of the things I am investigating - an LPI conversion ,If the pump can handle the flow or 2 pumps needed and if large enough injectors are yet available they seem limited upto now - If they can then it would be more powerful than using petrol and be a lot cheaper
Dnk
A 70 litre tank with a 300 mm diameter will be 1088 mm long and to actually get 70 litres of lpg in it it will need to be more like 90 litres which would be 360 mm diameter x 996 mm long. Sorry mate but your tank is not going to be invisible. Here is a pic of a 100 litre tank in a Range Rover, this holds approx 80 litres of usuable lpg. dangerous brain
My VVTi aristo is being converted as we speak. I actually have a full sized spare wheel well and an inch or two I can afford to lose from the base of my boot I could lose about a foot and still cram a dead body in me pimpmobile lol LPG makes sense if you would rather use your car everyday rather than drive around in a sh*tter all week then only drive your good car at weekends. I don't see the savings in the MPG as I have a car that manages 40 mpg day in day out, but I detest driving it most of the time knowing I have a decent motor sittig in my garage doing sod all. FWIW you will not see anywhere near 50 mpg economy. You'll be lucky to see the equivalent of 40 mpg. Roll into that how far you will have to drive extra to get the LPG which you will be filling up more regularly than petrol if you have such a small tank and your savings start to drop. Don't get me wrong I am a great advocate of LPG but I think you are bit optimistic in the results you will achieve and are heading for a little disappointment if you maintain your current aspirations for the system. I'll keep you good folks posted on my actual running costs as I go along and we can start to gather some real time information on how good or bad LPG really is. Dnk
When i used it in my Range Rover I didnt get any more miles to the gallon, it was approx the same mpg on petrol as it was on lpg. The bonus is only on cost at its approximately half the cost to do the same distance, once you've covered the cost of the kit ofcourse. Smile all you want; if I wanted a single car with fuel economy I wouldn't have a Supra. Thats just silly! Personally the missus has a 1.2 Punto I could use, but guess what I choose for my 110 mile a day commute cross country?

dangerous brain
So far quite impressed with my LPG. I am getting the same 20 ish MPG on gas as petrol and its half the price of 99 ron so a no brainer really. I have a setup issue that needs dealing with by the installer at its 1000 mile service (trips out on heavy boost) but other than that alls great.
