w41k3r
Just had my cousin down from scotland and we got talking saying we wanted to stretch are cars legs abit and go for a good run so were going to meet in the lake district then go up the coast in scotland. Jus wondering if anyone knows any real good roads where you can have a bit of fun i see in the lake district theres a few passes like Wrynose and Hardknott Pass Now werewanting to start in the lake and move upwards so just ideas would be good or personal experiences thanks dave
Ian Ian
Dave i wouldnt do the hardnott and wrynose passes way to small and you cant get upto any speed really from Windermere to Penrith over the Kirkstone pass is good then through penrith to Alston road ( A686 ) is mega been vote the best road in britain a few times Then up to Scotland depending on which way you want to go either A7 towards Edinburgh or A76 toward Kilmarnock south west of Glasgow, Then north of Glasgow you worlds your oyster many many good unspoiled roads up there, Glencoe being one of my faves and the road round Loch Ness to inverness Cheers -Ian-

AJI
I'll second what Ian says. Kirstone pass is 'just' wide enough for a Supra, but be aware for wider oncoming vehicles, you will need to use all the available road. But on a nice day it is a really good drive. I do think however there are roadworks cuurently in place with a road closure near Glenridding. This will effectively mean that route is closed.....BUT it may be re-opened by now. (I was over in that area 1 week ago and the road was closed.....but unsure how long it was closed for) Failing that then Windermere to Keswick is a nice scenic run out (A591)....then you can take the A66 to Penrith and carry on from the original route suggested by Ian. stevie_b
Dave i wouldnt do the hardnott and wrynose passes way to small and you cant get upto any speed really +1. Ahhh, Hardknott Pass. At 1-in-3, one of the steepest roads in England IIRC. I drove up it in a Rover Metro with a dicky cooling system. I nearly roasted the engine on the way up, and decided to freewheel back down, nearly roasting the brakes.
