This can include interactive features, trailers, interviews and other exclusive extras. The player’s Precision Drive HD technology enhances playback from discs that aren’t in such good condition and helps to prevent discs skipping. It detects and corrects wobbling discs in three directions and stabilises playback of bent or scratched Blu-ray discs or DVDs. The versatile S550 can play a range of disc formats including BD-ROM/R/RE, DVD-+Video/R/RW, CDs and AVCHD discs. Scott
Cracking bit of kit, and you just can't beat Sony for bluray playback. Multi-region isn't really an additional cost bud, it is a remote hack (even when bought that way from the shop) so can be easily done to any of the players with the aid of google. Not necessarily true - most Sony DVD players and BR players can't be multiregioned without a hardware mod, I'm not aware of a remote control multiregion hack for any of my Sony players. BD-S300 DVP-C850 DVP-S525 Sony tend to be a bit stricter with their region encoding. Dan - is this multiregion DVD only or BD as well? how long does it take to start up a BD disc? My s300 takes forever! Mike
pistonbroke
This is multi region across the board for both BR and DVD. You have an option to make the player quick start, which means it'll start playing the disc around 10 seconds after you switch the unit on. Or, you can have it off, which means it takes around 30-40 seconds to start playing.

Unsure what is different with the US one. I have a DVD player up the loft that can't be done via the remote. I think all bluray are multiregion? pistonbroke
Bluray discs are not all multiregion. PS3 games are, not films. BUMP - price reduced to £150.
