Nodalmighty
I have seen £350 go from my current account and this is how it works: They get a Barclay Card GO card (the sort you load money onto), they set up a standing order on your account using telephone banking (where obviously the security checks are lame) and then wait for cash to come winging it's way onto the card. Trust me, SO set up at 9:20am, text alert at 9:21am, money gone 9:22am this morning, it can happen that quickly. They tried 2 days ago but left the payment date 2 days in the future so I got that one stopped. Thank god for Fast Text Alerts. I have only given my bank details to a couple of people recently so there details had to be passed on to the fraud dept for investigation. BE AWARE PEOPLE! Lyndon. Thorin
Well either someone knows enough bank account details and personal information about you to set this up via telephone banking, or someone at Barclay's stuffed up and didn't bother checking. If it's the latter, then it's Barclay's problem and they should have telephone call records to play it back. I don't see that this is anything new per se. pistonbroke
with telelphone banking, to transfer money from one account to an outside account, you need two digits of you 5 digit passcode. Surely you haven't given this to anyone?

tbourner
The security on non 'telephone banking' phone calls to the bank is a bit pants! They ask things like "What was the last transaction amount" which I never know, and things like "How many account holders are there" which is just me and always confuses me so I always answer "I don't know, me I think". Basically this carries on until they find one I know, which is normally mothers maiden name. You can say you didn't know there was a password etc. they still let you in!!
