myprotein.co.uk is meant to be a good brand for protein, egg whites and creatine. Quite highly regarded in the sports world. Good price, but taste is not great I hear.

I personally use the "reflex" brand for protein powder/creatine (when I did use it). I don't mind the taste, some people don't like it.

Maximuscle stuff is good but incredible expensive. Cyclone is their all in one solution. If you can afford it, go for it. Some of the experts say its over priced and get unbranded stuff individually and make up their own versions.

If your diet isn't great (as in not enough fruits and veg), most bodybuilders swear by the multivitamin Animal paks. Again pricey, not like the stuff you get in Tesco/Holland and Barratt.

Fat burner, again Animal cuts is meant to be the best out there. It works for me.

For big pump, pre workout - white flood is meant to be amazing - I've stopped using these as I can't sleep with them.

ZMA any brand should be the same as its a standard formula tho I go for the MetRX brand so I know it'll be quality. Take a couple of tablets before bed 30 mins before bed. Ensure you have no calcium within the hour of taking them. These are thankfully cheap! :)

There's a lot more to learn. bodybuilding.com is good place to start.

thanks treacle! ;)

I'm happy to try things to increase size/weight, but just worried if i stopped using them i'd end up fat, which i really don't want...

Creatine - when you take it you will need to drink lots of water.

The creatine will retain the water inside you making you bigger and bulkier (your muscles will look larger too) - and if you stop, then the water bulk will subside and you will be as you were, minus whatever training you have done.

Thats like a non technical idiots guide

:D

In all seriousness though im looking at getting back into shape again, ive lost a fair bit of size in having a year off. Not going for the male model look but i just want to have some reasonable size to me again.

I used to be on that promax stuff and ill admit it was working well but i didnt eat enough 'proper' food to make the most of it. As i am fussy with everything its hard to find a good diet plan for me... think i focus to much on chicken realy.

Tips guys?

I do have rage moments though, I haven't taken roids and never would.

But my side effects are sweating a lot, and rage moments.

I am a very relaxed and chilled person - but when I'm on cycle I have bitten a few heads off in my time :innocent:

Iv tryed rugby balls in the past once on cycle but after that I never bothered. My brother gets that stuff and alot of my mates take it but i have no intention now as I ain't doing no competitions. Alot of people take roids but never do competition I don't see the point

Who wants a small dick and man boobs anyway? :p

Anyone that will trade penis inches for arm inches has a mental problem :D

If its just bulk and not bothered about male model look then just eat quality food with more protein than normal. Best for you sounds like protein shake in morning, mid day, and evening. Whilst eating your regular diet (assuming its good).

That's assuming you exercise regularly too. Focus on the core muscle building exercises whilst doing your usual set.

Deadlifts

Bench press

Squats

Sleep 7+ hours a day. Cut out alcohol if you can - especially on work out and first resting day.

2 days rest between work outs. Maintain the same diet on your off days. If you can eat 6 smaller meals than 3 thats better, but if that sounds too much stick to what I said above.

Don't want to overload you with information.

I dont mind being overloaded as to be honest ive sucked at managing my fitness in the past although i kept up the protein shakes 3 times a day, no matter how much i disliked them. I dont drink heavily, only every other week sometimes or unless the games on :D

Im 5ft 9 and a HALF 10.5 stone but when you look at me you think where the hell am i hiding it all?!?!

I eat alot of fish and chicken to say the least. Last time i was training every other day which was a bit to much but i pushed myself which was a bit stupid i must admit but i was determined to gain size and it sort of worked but it killed me and i got to tired to continue. Feel free to PM of this information you possess ;)

Damn this makes me want to get off my ass and get back training. I was nearly hitting 100kg pressing but now I'll struggle at 70. I found optimum nutrition one of the best tasting and working proteins, i added glutamine and some creatine. Occassional I'd use Nitro but taking the red pills out (pure caffiene). I'd also occassionally use M-Stak. All from Animal. Their vitamins range is excellent.

I'm 6foot4, was 17stone but I've dropped a stone since Jan. Need to lose more weight really. Getting back into it is the hardest thing, just haven't got the motivation. I have no excuse - I have a smith machine waiting in my games room and all the cardio stuff just gathering dust.

That sounds good, I just really don't wanna stop at some point and end up with a gut! Only issue there is I hate the taste of water, is anything else ok, such as adding squash etc?

If I started using 'said' suppliments, what sort of time am I roughly looking at to have a decent look? say going twice a week?

Depends on what you will be doing in the gym, and for how long in the gym.

You will see fast beginner gains i.e. within a month or two..

But I would personally work out for a while before taking any supplements, someone might say otherwise but I like doing things one step at a time.

Thats a very good point thinking about it, I'm sure going from nothing to balls out and supplements won't be doing the body much favors.. My only real issue is the 7+ hours sleep, I sleep shit, always feel really tired but just can't sleep. May do a max 5ish hours a night. What difference does the extra hours make? Sorry for all the questions dude..

Muscles grow when you sleep so the more you sleep the bigger they'll grow put simply. Not enough sleep means little development.

If you've not worked out for ages, I'd do twice a week and take it easy and don't over exert. You ll be hurting 24 hours later anyway. If you over do it you may be hurting for much longer!

Oh how I remember that feeling!!!

I use to get that the first few times I went, then after a while it stopped aching, which made me feel like I wasn't achieving anything... OK, i need to get myself to bed earlier I think and find a way of actually getting to sleep! I tend to lay and listen to my wife snoring for hours! :(

Also, one of my customers is a PT in our local gym. He uses everything going and is a right beef cake, will have to get some goods from him as he is the local supplier. Not the dodgy stuff though, not a fan of risking it by shoving a great needle in dodgy places!

MUSTLETECH is one of the most overrated Products out there, iv been there and done that. i would never buy any of there products again. There are so many other products out there that do the same job for half the price.

It depends on ones goals really what sort of product to go for??

Iv helped loads of people, and it basically all comes down to how hard you want to reach your goals, and what sort of food you chcuk down your throat. Simple Really!
