Car knackered :(

Right, coming home from work this morning and the oil light came on, sudden loss of power, smoke and a loud rattle :( .

Got towed home, had a mechanic take a look and it looks like i have dropped a valve and pushed an injector out!

So i am in two minds what to do. Its an 02 corsa diesel, probably not worth more than 1500 quid if it was running ok, so sticking a new head (at least) is gonna cost a lot of coin.

Do i sell it as a spares/repair or fix it??

Thoughts please.

Alex

The piston where you dropped the valve is most likely DOA,It will at the minimum be heavily scarred from the valve contact which will mean sharp edges which will get very hot possibly causing issues in a diesel (almost certainly cause det in a petrol motor) more likely the walls are scored and the piston crown will be smashed as well so if you find a whole engine in a scrap yard, go for it but a head alone will probably not be worth it.

I am no mechanic but this does sound about right, sorry.
