What would you do to earn a living in your two countries of choice? :)

I'm rather lucky, I have family in the good ol' USA and the company that I work for has offices about 15 miles away from where they live, so as soon as I have been working here for a bit I'm going to see about a transfer.:)

In my opinion, benefits system is not bad as long it pays to somebody if they are disabled, out of work due to severe illness or out of work for a brief amount of time like when you are pregnant and expecting. When you are not employed still the benefits system can pay up say for 8-12 months max for anybody under 35 years and pay 1.5-2 years for anybody between 35-50 (as it is difficult for these to find jobs and upgrade their skills). For anybody above 50 years of age the benefits system can remain as it is. This fixed time line forces any individual to find work if they are out of work rather than sitting on their arses and breeding and still complaining.

PS: I like the tags for this thread ;-)

Don't we love finger pointing in this country just to remind ourselves how much better we are...?

I pay taxes, loads of them, never been unemployed, 10 years in IT now, 5 years in this country. I couldn't care less if they're cheating a flawed system. Fix it and/or stop complaining!

No wonder why we get taxed so much! I am still disgusted by how much we pay to run this country.

A couple of pointers to any politicians on here:

* Get every single prisoner working to earn their stay in prison.

* Kids who offend serve community service, the worst go into the army.

* Council get stripped of all powers, they are pretty much useless.

* If you are on benefits then you need to earn it, do community work, no work, no pay.

* Single mothers have to work as well or receive a very low income.

The last one is something which bugs me (Sorry to all the genuine single mothers), but I know of a few girls which are single mothers. One of them has been put in a new £275,000 2 bedroom flat! She has everything paid for & even has money to spend on things like spending £200 on a dress! The message sent out to these young women is get laid then get paid. The person I am referring to is married to my friend (They split up) but due to getting everything paid for she does not need to rely on him.

What is the point, its too far gone :(

As much as it angers me there is nothing that can be done unless you get some radical group come in and remove the benefits system, only problem is that as soon as you try and do anything about it we would be pulled up for human rights, racism etc etc etc blah f**king blah.

Pretty much... makes me sick.

My only worry is if we sent scroats to the army, I could see them accidently killing someone or just bringing down the reputation of our armed forces down. Frankly I would just take these kind of people for a long walk and slot them. Or atleast repeat offenders. Failing that, I understand that the Isle of Wight can hold the population of the UK, if they stood shoulder to shoulder. My less extreme idea would be to clear out the isle of wight, send every scumbag over there and just fence it off. Escape from LA style.

I've been sitting here trying to think of something constructive to write for the past 5 minutes, but this really is the most angering subject for me, I can't think of words that express how much it pisses me off.

I got pulled to one side the other day after ranting at one of these greasy shit stain sponges when they said to me "I pay your fucking wages guv". I BLOODY WELL KNOW YOU DON'T PAY FUCK ALL FOR ANYTHING.........the conversation generally went downhill from there.

The vouchers system is the only way to sort it. You get Asda vouchers for cheap no frills food, George clothing. You can't buy fags or booze with them, you get to live in one of the giant slum tower blocks, irrespective of how many little criminals you decide to squeeze out. If you want a better life, you have to work for it like the rest of us.

The benefits system should be strictly used for the disabled and people who cannot work for good reason. Being a chronic alcoholic or drug abuser is not one of them.

If this was in members only, I'd be ranting far more than this :D

Playing Devils Advocate here but, apart from their no doubt massive carbon footprint, I can't see much wrong with how they are living their lives.

I don't recall ever getting the memo that limits a family in the UK to a maximum number of children so if they want that many kids then fair play to them.

If they can also take a flawed system and turn it to their advantage then fair to them too. I wish I could get me some more money for little effort.

This is the bit that I grudgingly agree with. It's not their fault, rather the terrible system that allows this abuse.

However, I still hate them for abusing it :D

Yep not send them front line or with weapon's as they would be a hazard but get them doing all the nasty jobs so then it would make them think twice about offending as they don't want to spend time there. Also prison's should be prison's, not a creature comfort zone, these people are here to do time not enjoy themselves!

There is no law against the number of children you can have, but I think there should be - it shouldn't come under human rights, it should be a worldwide thing that we need to limit the population and measures need to be taken to help with that.

If they can also take a flawed system and turn it to their advantage then fair to them too. I wish I could get me some more money for little effort.

So if you were in a Casino and someone came up and told you how to cheat at one of the games (not just a system, actually CHEATING) would you take it and get loads of money from it or not? I personally wouldn't and I see this kind of thing as being very similar in terms of morals. We all have the ability to use the system in that way but most of us choose not to, we choose to go to work and earn our living, because we have morals and a desire to help out our society rather than just take from it.

My problem with them is, in my experience, professional benefit claimnants cause more than their fair share of petty crimes and anti-social behaviour. These crimes are low-level and usually arduous for the police/authorities to prove (hence they get repeated again and again), but they nibble away at whatever goodwill is left in society.

The benefit system was never meant to be a "lifestyle" choice, more a stopgap. I would love to go on the benefit system and make more money than I do now, but I cannot bring myself to do it. I struggle to pay the bills, drive a 10 year old car, I dont have sky TV and the last time I had a holiday was 5 years ago and I have to get up and bust my gut off, just to keep these wasters in the lifestyle they have become accustomed to.

If someone goes onto the benefit system. on the first occasion they enter the system if they have 2 kids the state will assist, if you want more kids then no problem, the state will not be paying for them!

"Santa is always generous in our house" errr Santa is that the new name for goverment hand outs now?

why dont people understand that benefits are to help people not for them to sit down work out the maths then give up work and claim for everything under the sun and have a better quality of life!

most people on benefits (I hope) are just coping and I doubt could afford a full sky package and things!

people doing things like this really makes me angry when you work and pay so much in tax for others to have a easy life.
