toyo rob
My little boosting prob is still not corrected even tho i did find a couple of pipes the wrong way round and swap them. for those new to this heres whats happening (now) On acceleration she maxes at 0.8 then immediately starts falling down to 0.5 - in the early gears definately. When cruising, generally in 6th, put the foot down and immediate response to 0.9 and stays constant. now the funny things i have discovered; if i turn my bc off then, while under boost, turn it on she boosts to 1.18, which is what i was aiming for, but it starts falling and stops at 0.9. what i've done so far; i printed off ian c's seq section pics and have gone thru as many as i can and cant find fault. am waiting for delivery of new vac hoses from envy to check no splits. but on vis insp no obvious splits or breaks. i am just soo lost, just got no time to take it somewhere. info appreciated, Rob S
Ian C
Isn't there a problem caused by a bad pressure tank that is similar to this? I never had mine go wrong so I don't know that much about it It's not going to be the wastegate because even fully open it can't drop the boost to 0.5bar... Plus a failure on the WG side of things would cause excessive boost. Do you actually feel the power drop off, in case it's a probelm with the gauge Sounds like a leak perhaps, have you got an aftermarket BOV? Or a dodgy pressure tank causing say the Intake Air Control Valve to slide partially shut - although I thought the pressure tank was only there to work the sequential stuff when off boost, i.e. coasting back through 400o to 3000 rpm or suddenly booting it in that area. Just some thoughts, no magic fix -Ian
Jake
I would try disconnecting the boost controller and reconnecting the stock system (hose from the first turbo to the wastegate actuator, etc) Five minute job, just to eliminate the BC as the problem. toyo rob
did try that but no change but that was before the swaping of two pipes from the rear actuator. got an hks ssqv - have had a little play with it it seems to lower boost when screwed all the way in but on all the way out shes only at the 0.9 also i forgot to say that shes full boosting from around 2k rpm. seems no noticible come in from either. she just boosts from whatever revs i am at = 0.9 at 2000. i think will try to figure it out a bit more but its so hard keeping an eye on boost/road and revs too much for small man brain. think i should pick up a girlie to do it!!!! toyo rob
OK, i have just found the problem after a good two full days, fitting it in round work, and i must say; Ian - ur pics showed me the way!! it was the two pipes going into the pressure tank. hadn't picked up on them before cause i could bl**dy find the tank but after much shouting, blood letting and staring at that picture of the tank i finally found the 8 and so when i felt round the back of the engine for it the pipes poked out to b counted!!! Hope there's no set way they have to put back on cause i just placed them on as i felt. Thanks for the help, Rob S
