PaulD76
Hey All Recently I had a problem with MIL warning light which I managed to resolve (thanks to advice from here!) by topping up the brake fluid... but a few days later the light came on and I have noticed some wet patches on the inside of the alloy wheels. Recently I had the caliper changes by a local mechanic and im sure its related. Waht can be the cause of brake fluid leaking? is it something simple? its not pouring out but its seems a consistent (if slow) leak.. cheers in advance for anyhelp.. did search but no joy.. miko_supra
Get underneath and have someone pump the pedal and you will soon see what it is. Could be a few things...Cracked caliper, loose bleed nipple, split hose, loose banjo bolt, banjo fitting washer(s) not installed...
Swampy442
Damaged piston seal perhaps? Have a look, should be obvious where its coming from

Scooter
Thanks,. will try take a look tomorrow.. i hope it isnt the caliper j spec calipers are known to crack where the bleed nipples tighten into them.........i'd check there first (and would not drive it in the meantime)
PaulD76
I have to drive it tomorrow sadly! i will just take it very easy. I have some spare fluid in the car and will keep an eye on the levels. my other car is in the garage having its brakes fixed! (bloody cars). Its not leaking a huge amount, after tomorrow i wont need to drive it until its fixed..
PaulD76
Hi Guys Just as an update, took my car to the garage today as it was still leaking.. sadly the caliper has cracked! ... when i drove it home I lost all brake pressure and had to use the handbrake to stop... was pretty scary. So I am back on the hunt for a caliper Just glad i got back to the garage without hitting anyone or anything!! ironically he put back on my old caliper that was ceasing up..
