Single turbo heat shield

A good article above on turbos- although plain bearing turbos the same forces applies to bb turbos -

 

The manufacturers and designers go to great lengths to factor these forces when it comes to turbine clearances , so adding a heat shield too close to the turbine housing ,could possibly alter the clearances leading to premature failures

As a heatshield to protect underbonnet temps then larger housing to heat shield distance may be required .

Its interesting (to me anyway) to read the various harmonics and shaft forces that come into play (no pun intended) rather than the usual what size or a/r or bearing type posts or info
