Chris Wilson
I know I am not alone in thinking our cities, towns and roads are littered by unnecessary and ugly signs depicting everything from slippery surfaces, to cross winds and falling rocks. A drive through the average city centre looking at ALL the signs and warnings put there for the motorist's "benefit" would entail neck ache and eye strain. Most are superfluous, hideous and insulting to anyone with slightly more common sense than a rabbit staring into a car's headlights. I do admit, however, that this sign now adorning the Italian streets made me smile, and like the poster, I am a little unsure just what it is meant to convey http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=21766
ellis
Looks like advertising to me! Saves hunting round dark alleys late at night . . . . . allegedly!
paulrenn
Agree, far too many annoying and unnecessary signs. I believe it is part of the dumbing down of society in general - people are expected to be told what to do. Every time I visit the UK I start foaming at the mouth already at the airport - there are so many dumb warnings and no signs that you actually need. For example, take the lift - everyone knows that the doors open and close there, but it insists on announcing it. And that the shuttle train doors are about to close. It doesn't help those visitors that don't speak English in any case! Last time at Gatwick the car hire centre at the south terminal was closed, but after walking what seemed half a mile, and ascending to the top floor of the multistory car park where the office was supposed to be, was the first time that there was any indication it was bloody closed. Fortunately the further you get out of London in a westerly direction, the better things become
Ark
Curiously, of all the countries I've visited, Italy is the only one where street-walking prostitutes were very obviously working.
