Question regarding Broadband and house moving

I'm currently trying to buy a home...if I'm not put away for murdering an estate agent or solicitor.

I have a question regarding broadband that i'm hoping people know the answer too or have experience.

1. What happens if the previous owner doesn't notify to move or cancel their broadband?

2. Will i still need a PAC code?

3. Any views on Sky they are doing line rental now for £11 a month which is the cheapest (I don't want virgin as they will jump on this piracy band wagon as soon as they can)

From the last time I moved when you change the billing name with BT it cancels the broadband whether the previous occupant does it or not. Their provider may still continue to charge them but BT will kill the service (did for me anyway).

I'm with BT now for broadband and its a brilliant service though expensive (£25/month for 4meg) but I live in a rural location where 1 meg should have been the limit. If I had the choice I'd try Sky unlimited as it is supposed to be a superb value for money deal if you want sky TV. I can't get it in my area.

Sky are excellent for broardband and telephone when you move into your new house, phone sky and they will sort out getting you all connected even if the previous owner has not notified the houses current supplier, sky will notifiy them you have moved in and there going to be your supplier,

For the most part SKY are fine, in fact for most users its more than enough and very easy to setup, they ship a pre-configured box which you plug in and it all works plus its cheap.

I use Zen and get my full 8mb service anytime I want it, but it costs £34.99 a month, doesnt worry me though as my works pay for it.

I was with sky and only ever had one issue when my speed dropped to 5kb every night at the same time. Sky swore blind my line wasnt being throttled but I was doing tests etc when I was on the phone to them and emailing them the results real time.... after about a week it magicly returned to my 8meg speeds after I threatened to report them. :sly:

Apart from that I cant complain at their service or price. I got exactly what I paid for. Was easy to set up. They even gave me a free month when the ex canceled the phoneline and didnt tell me  causing the BB line to drop out and I had to wait a month for BT to reconnect me. It wasnt their issue but looked after me very well.

Im in the same boat at present and agree with this. Non-human reptiles most of them. Sorry, present company excluded.

I'll be keeping an eye on this too.

I have had sky for years inc BB and phone and i have moved alot being in the army.

I have found sky to be the best when moving as its just one phone call and they do the rest for me, i just moved again last week and am waiting for my new connection to get sorted
