Disabled Parking

I saw a total prick park his Hyun coupe in a Disabled bay today, get out with his g/f smile laugh and walk off.

Id love to have clamped that fucker

It's possible he was about to pick up his disabled mother from the shop. How annoying to return with her and the car's been clamped.

Unless there's a means test for each and every person each and every time someone uses a disabled bay, there's no way to police it properly. All you can do is educate and shame those who abuse the rules.

If it's any consolation, the laziness exhibited by the phookers who don't want to walk the extra few yards are contributing to their early death through obesity and lack of exercise. :)

Erm, ever tried to unload a baby and pram? They are there for extra space to the sides makes life so much easier.

I get that, but why cant they put them away from the entrance then they wont be so tempting to park in?;)

In my local village there are 5 spaces next to the post office. There are no disabled people in my village as far as I know but recently the council has truend two of the bays into 1 disabled parking bay. Makes me a little angry at the PC gone mad.

Normally it's for a specific reason if it's a small number of spaces like that. You never know, you might soon see the only disabled in the village, if you're lucky.

i read in one of my disabled Magazine a few years back.some where in the states a guy saw a someone in a sports car just park in a disable and step out and go into the shop. so the guy watching this went over and broke something on the car (can't remember what) the owner of the car came out the shop and saw his car geting kicked or what .so the owner removed his fake leg and started hitting the guy with it.

I agree with the sentiment of disabled bays so never park in them but I have to admit the amount of them gets right up my nose - Asda in Livingston for example must have close to 100!!! :taped: All the prime spots effectively lying empty 95% of the time as only 2 or 3 are ever needed at a time. Are they expecting some sort of gathering?!?

Having a child now I can appreciate Parent & Child spaces as it does make life so much easier - you REALLY need the extra space at the side of the car if you're not gonna dent those around you. What pisses me off is that nobody respects them so everytime I go to the local Tesco's with the wee man, those spaces are full with ignorant twats that have no need for them.

Personally I think we're missing a trick here - make disabled and P&C spaces all dual purpose  Perhaps a blue badge style pass is also required for parents up to a set age of the child, that way use of the spaces can always be policed by the badges.

Cheers,

Brian.

Thanks for everybodys opinions, I think we all know the system is abused maybe changes are needed, ie not so many bays etc, but at the end of the day it may be easy to park in one of these bays when you are able bodied but what if you were unfortunate enough to end up disabled (which I would hope never ever happens) and really needed the use of them one day? I think you probably would feel the same as I do.

Thanks guys.

I never park in disabled bays... but parent and child spaces are fair game. Just because you have a child doesn't mean you can't park at the other side of the car park and walk.

Another parking related incident that annoyed me today... busy petrol forecourt with cars queuing to get to the pumps. Woman drives up and parks next to the pump that's just been vacated, fair enough... but she gets out of the car and goes straight into the shop to buy a paper and snacks, before returning to the car and just driving off. There are a number of parking spaces available at the garage for people just using the shop, why park up at the pumps you stupid waste of oxygen excuse for a human being?

i'll have to hold my hands up to parking in these bays and i know its wrong but i park here in the knowledge that im not going to come back and find my doors dinked and scuffed

i rarely go to these car parks in my supra though so its probably about once every 3 months but it still doesnt make it right i know that

I've never parked in disabled bays either, and wouldn't.. but I agree the number of spaces is outrageous. I have parked in parent & toddler ones because in so many carparks the spaces are just too small to park a Supra. when you have someone park next to it in their clapped out old banger and discover their jealous streak or company vans who just don't care how hard you saved for your paint job. I got told off for parking there the second time and haven't done it since, despite the fact I don't shop at peak times and there are always loads of empty M & T spaces when I have used one. I have taken to parking at the farthest end of the car park picking a place without another car at all.. and STILL when I come out someone had to park right next door to me!

Theres an instant fix with people using the mother and baby bays and simply put them further away from the entrance, why are they right by the entrance anyway ? most are young fit and healthy and only need extra space to help get kids in and out of puschairs etc.

I am guessing its to eliminate the danger of a child running in front of a car, if the bays were far from the store entrance.

By far my biggest pet hate, there is just no excuse for it.

My local tesco metro has 2 disabled spaced in a small car park right outside the shop, this full of herself woman comes out and carries on with her shopping. Whilst her stuff is being packed and she is readying to pay she walks out and chucks the bags in the back of her Hilux pickup and goes back into the store grabbing other bits she needs whilst people are waiting for her to pay, she had easily enough for 2 weeks shopping as well so she might as well saved a bunch of cash and gone to big tescos.

Should have put dog shit under her door handles. I would quite happily give up a few hours of my saturday to work for free watching those spaces.

The most dangerous place at the supermarket is near to the entrance though as thats where its at its busyiest, i think an area further away would be much safer and parents should be in more control of the kids anyway, have you not seen the sound of music :D

I don't get why you are all complaining.

If it means so much to you just report it to the store manager when you walk into the store with a sensitive sob story about how inconsiderate it is.

End of. You are making it sound much more difficult then it need be for yourselves.

lol

Yeh but even if the spaces were further away they'd still need to get past the initial store entrance traffic. So they'd still be at greater risk by walking further. :p

People don't like to be inconvenienced, and regard parking near to the store as some kind of bizarre human right. These same morons are the ones who will be asked to make an important decision on 6th May, and I find that troubling.

My solution to people parking in disabled bays when they're not entitled to would involve a 50 calibre machine gun on a bipod, 3000 rounds of ammunition, a good book, a thermos flask of tea and a spare afternoon.

Park in a disabled space when you're not supposed to? Fine, but your vehicle will resemble a colander when you return to it.

I suspect my solution may be too robust for most palates though. :)

i got clamped for parking in a disabled bay, £95 fine. honestly and truthfully i actually didnt realise it was a disabled bay, was busy looking in shop windows for furniture and the mrs was doing my ear in! but there were loads more open, the car park literally deserted, still no excuse for me, was a genuine mistake.

I dunno Adnan. Sounds like you're partially sighted dear boy. :D

But I agree with the Op's view. It must be monumentally frustrating to not get your rightful space.

equally annoying for us hgv/delivery drivers...

disabled drivers and parent and child drivers should take note...LOADING BAYS ARE NOT PARENT & CHILD OR DISABLED DRIVER PARKING PLACES!!!...yes it works 3 ways.I was overjoyed one day when a warden booked a disabled driver(well he had a badge in the car) for parking in a loading bay because I couldnt get my lorry parked to deliver...

What makes me most annoyed is a supermarket carpark with lots of empty spaces, and chavs and fat women think they have a special license to leave the car right at the double yellow line straight outside the entrance...the 25 yards or say is too much of a distance for them
