nige
Gonna have a rant about Disabled Parking,I was parked in one of the disabled bays today outside Next, unfortunately I'am entitled to I'am an Amputee (leg, which I cant wear my Prosthesis at the momment) I was munching a mcdonalds:( which was shit as usual, anyway was sat for 15minutes or so and the amount of woman with kids who parked in the Disabled bays was f**kin outrageous, I didnt know you became Disabled when you have a child, they didnt even take the kids in the shop with them, I dont usually park in these bays when I'am wearing my leg cause there are a lot more people worse of than myself so why do these ignorant people get away with this? I liked the idea that Asdas used to have when you parked in a disabled bay the car triggerd a voice recording which announced to the whole car park you were there and everybody usually looked. Personaly I think they should get clamped and made to pay a £60 fine or theyre car gets towed away. Sorry for going on a bit, I would be interested in everybodys opinion on this and what would be your idea of repremand?
TopgunTT
To be fair i think it works both ways. I have been sat in the parents with toddlers parking bay and disabled people park in those bays. Not just disabled people but everyone come to that abuses these spaces.

Absolutely agree with everything you've said, however, don't you think that they've gone a bit over the top with the number of disabled spaces? Every time I go to the shops of the 20 or so disabled spaces only about 2 or 3 are usually occupied.
jevansio
It's when the disabled people & mother with toddlers park in the normal spots that really rattles my cage
Abz
I totally agree with you Nige, I parked in a disable bay when I torn my ankle ligaments & was on my crutches. Even then I felt guilty but thought there were at least 10 disabled free and I would only be 10 - 15 minutes. I got out with my crutches and was hopping along & like then saw someone lady in a BMW X5 park up in the disabled bay (no badge and even no kids!) I was tempted to say something but I was a bit of pain. Come back to find a Audi TT (Older shape, parked badly) in the bay next to mine with no badge as well (Thought maybe they could be like me who is injured?) Start the car and about to drive away, look to my left & I see a young lady crossing the road & while on the phone & then getting in to drive away whilst on the phone. She then pulled out behind me & followed me out (Still on the phone), so when we came to the exit to the main road I slammed my brakes to wake her up No need to be sorry Nige, some people have no respect. Max Headroom
The disabled bays are covered by law, if you are not disabled you can get a ticket for it. Mother and children slots are just a marketing ploy by the supermarkets!

Yeh I agree with you some places are a little bit over the top,but when you have the mother & toddler spaces 4 yards behind the disabled spaces why dont they use them? If you are able bodied and can walk it shouldnt really matter how many disabled spaces there are, I think it goes with the size of the car park. adnanshah247
i got clamped for parking in a disabled bay, £95 fine. honestly and truthfully i actually didnt realise it was a disabled bay, was busy looking in shop windows for furniture and the mrs was doing my ear in! but there were loads more open, the car park literally deserted, still no excuse for me, was a genuine mistake. Purity14
The amount of disabled spaces is relative to that of our population. (lol? im making it up but bear with me) 1. Google how many people there are in the country 2. Figure out who are Eligible to work 18-65 3. Take the amount of people that are unemployed 4. Understand that at least MINIMUM 25% of people on unemployment LIE or PRETEND about physical and mental problems and gain disability benefits anyway. 5. Count the spaces in Asda (liverpool esp!) and you will see that every 1 in 4 spaces is a disabled spot.. 6. If you fancy it - sit back after a hard day at work, because with the figures above - you can then work out that you are supporting at least 3 other non-worker-people with your wage. - Great Britian, yey! Terminator
I can't understand why any non disabled people used these bays but particularly fit young healthy people who park in disabled bays, what is wrong with them, stupid, lazy morons could be the reason. Why are people so reluctant to walk and extra 50 metres. I think motorway service stations are the worst for disabled bay parking offenders. ASDA's policy is spot on, they should post pictures up in the store. "This week disabled bay offenders were...." How it could be enforced, I don't know, but where it can, a parking fine should be the least the offender should face. Not only is it parking in a restricted area, it is an antisocial offence so the fine should be higher to reflect the inconsiderate and antisocial nature of the offence. Mother and children slots are just a marketing ploy by the supermarkets! Really? You are telling me on private property such as a supermarket carpark you can get a criminal fine? Are you sure? It doesn't sound right. Absolutely agree with everything you've said, however, don't you think that they've gone a bit over the top with the number of disabled spaces? Every time I go to the shops of the 20 or so disabled spaces only about 2 or 3 are usually occupied. Agree with Tony totally. In my local village there are 5 spaces next to the post office. There are no disabled people in my village as far as I know but recently the council has truend two of the bays into 1 disabled parking bay. Makes me a little angry at the PC gone mad. Disabled spaces are right and people should respect them but I also don't see why we need a disproportionate amount of them.

It doesn't sound right. You can't - Mr Headroom is wrong. You can throw the tickets away as it is a private firm - they don't clamp unless its Pay and Display. Rob
It does annoy me at my local Co-op when a car parks right in front of the door and although I can see the passenger is infirm, frail or elderly therefore presumably possessing a blue badge, the fully able driver hops out and pops into the shop for something. If the disabled person is never going to get out of the car, I see no reason why they shouldn't use a normal space.

TonyP
Why are there speciel bay's for parent's & toddler's anyway? It gives them somewhere to park if the disabled spaces are full.
The Raven
Why are there speciel bay's for parent's & toddler's anyway? Erm, ever tried to unload a baby and pram? They are there for extra space to the sides makes life so much easier. I saw a total prick park his Hyun coupe in a Disabled bay today, get out with his g/f smile laugh and walk off. Id love to have clamped that fucker
mobsta_01
I've used the parent toddler bays quite a few times at my local Tesco store. They tend to be right the other side of the carpark! And when i make my way to the store in my wheelchair i notice a lot of the cars belong to able bodied people. To add to this the surface of the walkway is uneven and bumpy and littered with trolleys! renegade
i know that for ever 10 parking spaces in a car park 1 should be disabled. i know for a fact when you park a supra in a disabled spot people first thought is there nothing wrong with them there just showing off but with the blue badge in window it's ok to park there. in some place there are signs saying the disabled spots can be used by mother toddles spots. BazzaAlpine
Hell you should come round my neck of the woods and check out the co-op. The ex finds an excuse to go to the shop pretty much every day (long story and not for here) and every day half the disabled and all the parent child bays are taken up with lazy f***ers that can't be bothered to walk a couple of extra meters. I did see someone from the store putting tickets on ones in the disabled bays once but that was all. Actually told security at tescos about one guy that did it (can't remember why I mentioned it to them I don't normally bother ) and he said there was nothing they could do about it
TopgunTT
Why are there speciel bay's for parent's & toddler's anyway? So we don't dent other people's cars when opening our doors lifting a child in and out
TJP
When I come back in my next life I am going to get a job of nicking all those that park in disabled car spaces who are not disabled in my local tescos. I am also going to nick all those idiots that park right outside the entrance to tesco and at the end of the parking spaces slots which makes passing them difficult and causes a traffic jam. Have the same problem with Asda and love to ram my trolley into their cars (Supras an exception) lol
