i mean folks i have been reading a lot of posts and spoken to the police about this situation and i really do believe that police is doing what they can. prisons are over crowded like anything. police have initiated neighbourhood watch groups. the police are doing all they can. the problem we are facing is simple, the amount of children involved in gangs and carrying weapons is so huge now that its out of control quite literally. for every 1 police officer there are over 100 youths with weapons, those are the stats guys!

sorry to hear this mate, the thing that gets me more worried now is society in a whole especially in uk are doing everthing at a younger and younger age..

drugs, gangs, under age sex, murder or other crimes.

the kids these days are murderers and criminals before they reach adulthood.

WTF some kids as young as 12 sell drugs.

ok 15 years ago there was similar stuff going on, but now its getting more and more common.

my son is 1 year old and i worry about his life/society he is going to live in.

Yep That:(

This is horrible news but unfortunately is the way of life in this $#@! country now and it's only going to get worse. My heart goes out to all involved (except the wanker5 responsible)

The only way I think this is going to stop is to get some of us working people in government and courts that aren't toffs brought up in rich families who have no idea what life in this country is like. Then arm the police, stop putting them on murder charges every time the trigger is pulled and most importantly send these wannabe gangster scum bags to jail for a fcukin long time when they are either caught with a knife or gun or are convicted of a crime with said weapons with no fart arsing around. Life should mean life and 5 years should mean 5 years, none of that good behaviour rubbish and parole. Also convert the prisons back to dungeon like facilities instead of Butlins camps or even better build prison ships n stick the bastids in the ocean then stick the money saved on Playstations, flatscreens and christmas feats into the police and army. Personally I'd bring back the death penalty and banish all foreign criminals too - once you commit a crime your human rights should go out the window and if you're likely to be in the shat when you get back home then tough titty, you shoulda behaved in the kind host country !

A girl got shot gunned on my UPS patch in Hackney just last week - wtf !!!! Bloody Turks apparentlty. Im just so proud of what my country has become - rule Britannia !

Rant over !

I'll bring you back a copy of the local paper here in mexico city. About 3 our 4 police killed every day, 10 murders a day, 10 people killed by drunk drivers a day, bus drivers who run someone over then drive off because they would never be able to afford the health care payments to their victim, they show photos of everything, people decapitated by their killers, 2 weeks ago 40 were murdered in Acapulco by gangs on a rampage, they were killing police, army, bystanders, emabassy workers.

The government just take peoples money and dont spend any of it on them. All government officials are corrupt. We got married over here, we had all the documents they wanted for the civil registry, all legalised and official, then the day of our marriage the judge tells us that one of our documents is not properly legalised even though it was done at the official place, she says dont worry, i'll sort it out for you, just give me 1,200 pesos (about £70), but dont pay it at the till, just directly to me. She must do that to every couple that get married. I lived in Spain and it was just as corrupt.

People here in mexico get paid about £50 a week for 60 hours work.

We are very fortunate to live in England but people always forget that. Every major city has crime, it is life.

As sad is it is and I know how terrible it will be for your brother to witness this, we are all at fault by one degree or another for allowing this. We blame society, but we are part of that society. Ask yourselves why are there drugs, gangs, underage sex, murder and other crimes, we have allowed this to happen.

We have become a fractured "multicultural" society where we are frightened of our own shadows, what is wrong with being proud of your country and its heritage? Why are our schools, police, education and local government more interested in targets rather than being allowed to do the job? The power given to children these days is too much and they know it! there is no respect or no real consequence to what they do and the blame lays squarely at the feet of parents and us to a degree for allowing it to come this far.

This will soon be tomorrows news and filed amonst the terrible stats that are kept and the poor girl will be forgotten by the national consiousness, the killer will most likely go through the justice system as a "victim" and rather than coming down hard on him likely to be jailed for 10 years, out in 6 years, and most likely to re-offend on release.

How do we stop this? I don't know, I am one man with a voice that cannot be heard over the daily drag of everyday life, I have my own worries and fears and hoped that those in positions of power could see what damning effects their laws and directives have on those of us who have to live with the sad consequences.

I work with teenagers who are in care because of behavioural and emotional problems, the sort that would most likely "go postal" or stab someone. They are 16 mainly and at that point should be becoming useful members of society, yet many struggle with basic numeracy and literacy skillls, think its cool to be a "gangsta!!" and generally find themselves in a police custody suite for various petty crimes. Thes kids will become parents themselves one day!

problem is that we have is these kids dont care goin to jail if caught with the amount of luxuarys and privaliges these days due to "human rights" people that do this arnt human!

They all wanna be lil gangsters and wanna feel like there better than every1 else..

They should inforce the death penalty...life for a life i say! then we will see the murders cut down!

Sorry for your bro and u to see him in this state....I hope all will pass quicker than expected to return back to normal life.

I'm interested to know: I agree, London (and the UK in general) is in a pretty bad way socially and is still declining. But as per a previous post, other places (eg. Mexico, the US, South America, etc.) have it much worse.

My question is: where are the good/low crime parts of the world? And what are they doing right?

I'm guessing places like Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Japan?

This.

While I do feel for your brother, Adnan, I think it's a harsh reality for us all to face - that we all to blame in some ways, and we need to be just that little bit nicer to everyone. It's not a "tree hugging" solution, just simple psychology - if you're aggressive, you get aggression back. Conflicts as small as Hackney or as big as the Middle East will only be truly ended when people realise that it's positive reinforcement of good behaviours, not just negative reinforcement of bad behaviours, that actually causes positive long-term changes.

We need to start by fixing the causes of anti-social behaviour, not simply punish the kids who go off the rails because it's all they know.

My 2c.

Of course this is terrible also and compared to our country I'd not argue that Mexico is deffinitely worse off but this is our country and our problems and we know no different. This is our current shite situation and what we are living with so although I'd rather this than Mexico life, it's still not a walk in the park -

Im not saying the next government will fix it coz they're all lying caniving c**ts out for themselved but atleast it cant get any worse. I watched How The Other Half Live last night with toffs interacting with a poverty stricken family - just shows how society has no clue about the rest. Although in this case the toffs were absolute diamonds im sure the ones in government are all scum - point blank ! I really do wonder what it would be like with the BNP in power lol
