Multi-Monitor Gaming

Pot

Recommended Posts

For those of us running a multi-monitor setup, I've found a bit of software called SoftTH, which I believe enables DirectX on up to 3 screens, so you can go full screen across the board :)

It does take a bit of configuring, and so far I'm banging my head against a wall to get it to work on Fallout 3, but I've got it working on Live for Speed (The trial version), and Oblivion...

And the results are great :D - Even if my driving on LFS isn't :(

Anyhow, take a peek here : http://www.kegetys.net/SoftTH/ (Note, at the moment it's only for Dx8 and 9 games :(

And a couple of example videos here :

Running 3 x 24" Samsung monitors at 5760x1200px on 2 nVidia GTX 260's, although for SoftTH you only need one decent card, and a token 2nd card to fire up the 3rd screen :) - Haven't measured frame rates or so on yet, but it's totally playable :)

Oh, also, apparently nVidia are working on some 'nVidia Surround' software, compatable with Geforce cards, apparently available this month... I'll be keeping an eye out for that as it should be more user friendly to get working :) (And also compatible with 3D...)

Very nice clean setup :)

I used to have mine setup like this

But since I moved the PC and changed the outside monitors I dont have as much space so I have the 2 smaller screens up top so cant really do 3 screens anymore :(. I find multiple screens so useful though, there is no going back, a game open, a film and a web page all in full view is amazing.

Debating if I can stretch to 2 ATI 5770s at the moment, seems a good powerful budget buy.

Is that the belkin nostromo you have? I bought the logitech equivilent as a sort of " I need to buy some crap this month" thing and its amazing, really comfortable for long gaming sessions.

I was reading an article in PC Gamer on the new ATI/Nvidia cards, the 5770 you are referring to is a powerhouse for the price, get some of those setup in crossfire and you will be good to go! My new laptop has a GTS 360M in it so I will see what Nvidia is offering up in the mobile department, whenever it finally gets here > >
