Gauging Interest - Roll Cage

Recommended Posts

I have been in talks with a UK based Roll Cage manufacturer regarding MKIV Supra roll cages. They made one in 2005 for a customer but didn't keep the pattern so would have to start again from scratch. They would be looking to develop a full cage, but the rear would be done as an option on its own.

Below is the email i recieved from them:-

Please see proposed final retail pricing below:

Front cage - £190.00

Rear cage (single fixed diagonal) - £290.00

Rear cage (single removable diagonal) - £350.00

Rear cage (fixed X diagonal) - £350.00

Rear cage (fixed X diagonal & harness bars) - £375.00

Door-bars (single, per side) - £55.00

So a full cage will come in at anything between £590 - £675 dependant on options.

All prices are subject to VAT @ 17.5%

Obviously we are unable to produce one off's at this price, so would need to have a minimum quantity of 10 rear cages to be able to honour all of the above prices. If we can't reach the 10 units then we may have all cages, to suit the quantity.

The cage will be of 6 point specification and will be suitable for MSA spec racing when installed as a full cage. There will be plates which need to be welded into the car which the cage then bolts onto. We generally say that someone experienced with cars could fit the cage over a weekend as long as they have access to a welder.

If you have any questions, then please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Pic's below of origional cage they manufactured.

I have put this to the Moderators who have agreed it in principal and are waiting to hear back off the traders on the forum. If interested please add your name and cage required to the list below.

defo interested! cant see pics

i guess the only benefit for removable diagonal bar is for ease of fitting into the car?

depending how the full cage is around the dash at the front i may be interested in one of those if not a rear cage of some sort

The prices are for the cage only, i believe fitting and postage will be an additional cost. When i get the all clear from the mod's i will contact the supplier and answer all of your questions. Like i statedd the prices are based on 10 units, any less than that and the price may go up a bit which is out of my hands. As for the removable diagonal bar it is intended for people who want to be able to use the rear seats, then bolt the rear bar in for track days etc.

Pic's on the way.

See i would say a single diagonal with harness bar would be better :)

Also id say change the bolting of the rear from the side of the seat to the top of the suspension struts but going through the 1/4 trim like the cusco ones do. Looks far more cleaner IMO

Thanks for fixing the pic's Pot!

This is a good point M Life. As the cage hasn't been made yet the design and spec's can be tailored to suit within reason. The pic's are from a cage they made for the Sup in 2005 and is just an idea of what they can do. I will see what the majority thing regarding mounting points etc and go from there.

I believe the door bars will attach to the front of the cage to the rear (A pillar to B pillar).

I'm liking the look of the Cusco style cage with the single removable bar, and mounted to the rear suspension. Like i've said we can have the basic rear cage tailored to whatever the majority of us want and go from there.

Thanks for the interest and support guys and also the constructive comments, all of which have been taken on board and will be forwarded to the manufacturer.

I'd be most interested in

Rear cage (fixed X diagonal & harness bars)

:yeahthat:

As long as it doesnt attach to my none existent rear seats.

Im 'in' for now, but i also have a Doluck RTS, which although not a cage, i would fit to keep weight down. Also have a Titanium harness bar to fit.

Only snag with a removable cross brace is that you're gonna have a great big bolt an nut inches away from your skull, can se some nasty head damage if the car rolled.

Dome allen head with the nut the other side, same as the cussco one.

Anyone getting one of these remember to check with your insurance company, some hate cages.
