RedM
Three USB ports on my laptop have 'died'. Is it possible to buy replacement ports? I've had a look but I can only find things like batteries, screens and keyboard buttons. Thanks.
Pixelfill
Martin, if you've got a PCMCIA or an Expressport slot then you can buy a card to add in which will give you extra ports. Mike
nevins
When died do you mean that they dont work?. If so check your usb drivers

Mike I don't think I do but I'll have a look tonight. When died do you mean that they dont work?. If so check your usb drivers Wiggling the USB connector of my mouse makes it work occasionally so I'm thinking it is the connectors. I use Linux and don't recall seeing any updates in the last few days.
jackso11
You can take it to bits and heat up the solder, that should fix them if its not software related. Taking a laptop to bits is a pain in the arse though. Look up a guide specific to your laptop.

RedM
I have an Expresscard slot and I've found some USB hub type gadgets to fit. I'll give that a go until I get fed up with it and fork out to get it fixed. I daren't try soldering anything.
RedM
Turned out to be a mouse which is now deceased. Obvious really but I do like to panic.
