Neil-NA
Simple question, is it ok to use a clay bar twice in a week? Basically i did a piss poor job of cleaning my car last week, so i want to go over all steps again including using a clay bar, is there any harm in doing this? Does this sound the right way round to do things. Wash using NXT shampoo Dry Claybar Scratch X Step 1 paint cleaner Step 2 paint polish Red victoria concours wax Thanks. Konrad
ScratchX is not for paint AFAIK, it's more for plastics. About claybar - it depends what kind of clay you are using, those can be very aggressive on paint. Are you using machine polisher or doing it by hand? I just realised your car is white, I would use claybar and go straight to paint cleaner/polishing. Good thing about white is that you can hardly see any scratches. I would advise to use machine polisher tho, you would be suprised, how much "whiteness" car will regain
Neil-NA
All done by hand and its a megs clay bar. I thought scratch x was for paint, thats what it says on the pack.
Ric
I thought scratch x was for paint, thats what it says on the pack. correct plastix is for plastic. claying needs to be followed up with an intense polishing (machine polishing or DA) to remove the marring and grams that claying will give you. claying the car without then removing all defects is a waste of time IMO and will probably make the paint look worse
peter richards
feel the CC although you said you did a poor job , only reclay if it feels rough which i doubt it will . just wash dry and cleans then reseal and wax should do the trick
scotty71
Pre wash - using foaming shampoo Wash - Using lambs wool mitt - Blackfire Gloss shampoo/conditioner Clay (use a mild one) - Using lots of lubricants ie Meguiars last touch After claying you will have stripped the protection off your car and inflicted marring so you will need to polish with a polishing compound and dual action polisher to get rid of swirls - Might as well do this if you have the equipment After all this you will need to protect the finish with wax. R222 I have found is ok but doesnt last that long and is applied by hand Claying and detailing to me is a weekend job if you want top results and cannot be done in an afternoon if your going down the clay/dual action polish route. What clay did you use? Meguiars kit with speed detailer? claying the car without then removing all defects is a waste of time IMO and will probably make the paint look worse exactly Ric
Neil-NA
Yeah i just used the megs clay bar kit. I don't have a buffer but it is something i am looking to buy when i can find the right one. So it's best if i just wash then wax and leave the claying.

pjavon
Well i'm sure there are people who know more than me, but i bought this about six months ago and it's brought my car up great. I did use a meguiars cutting polish though not the one in the picture then the sonus swirl remover and then the final finish. Then Britemax sealant You can see pictures in my garage of the results if your interested
