Mcgoo
Its time for a new clutch for the Supra and I have the parts. I have a week off this week and wondered if it was feasible to change the clutch on my drive? I have a couple of trolley jacks, some axle stands and a pretty good tool kit. I have done most maintenance tasks over the years but never a clutch for some reason. Will I need any special tools for the bearings etc..? Will jacks and axle stands give me enough clearance to do the job? Thanks in advance for your help.
miko_supra
Just done mine on the drive. I lowered the gearbox down on a trolley jack and changed it there and then without taking the gearbox out from under the car.
Mcgoo
Cheers Miko, I think I'll give it a go then.
Mcgoo
Started this afternoon but run out of light. Next step is to remove the bell-housing bolts but I can see this being a pain in the a*se! Any advise? If I undo the rear gearbox mounting bracket and lower the rear of the box, does that give access to the bolts on the top of the bell-housing? I had the same issue... pull down on the back on the box and use long extensions with a wobbly socket attachment. You have to do it by touch. miko_supra
Also remember to undo the 6 clutch bolts before sliding the gearbox out.
