carl0s
If you tell them you are a member of the owners club you should get 10% disscount. I did anyway. They'll give 10% to anybody. You just have to ask. If you're particularly charismatic & charming in your asking, they'll give you 20%. They can give more, but I wouldn't like to guess what you have to do for 25% discount. JohnA
It's an auto mate. And yes to JohnA, I can get it within this price. . Go for it then, since you've been in the trade you'll know ways to avoid paying full Toyota prices I'm sure If the brakes are fecked it could be a good opportunity to uprgade to UK brakes. Also if the suspension is fecked you could always go for a set of Bilsteins, which you can even find slightly used if you look around. Intercooler, the same, get a stock used one. Worst case you spray the whole thing cool black. The damage does look like it might be superficial, but if the panels don't fit then at least you've factored a bit more work. I take it that the engine is running, so do a compression test, just in case you avoid any nasty suprises in the future.
rik
Right, it's been nearly a year since i bought this project and a lot has happened. Been out of work, wife's had baby etc. But i have steadily amassed a pile of parts big enough to fix this up. Now that i have everything, i'm sending it off to an accident repair centre nearby to have the new slam panel welded in and the wings fitted up. After that i'm bringing her home again to get ready for paint, and will possibly get it road legal so i can check everything is ok. Still not sure weather i'll paint it myself or not, i'll see what quotes i get once it's built up. So far i've spent around £600 on parts, but there's still a few little things i'll need. I've also got a few things that aren't relevant to the crash repair like standard air box and door seals. I've also got the rear bumper and a pair of doors that came with a deal for the bonnet and two front wings. I've just placed the wing and bumper on to give me a little glimse of how it should look. I'm getting all excited now, put there's still a bit of work to do obviously. Today i'm going to sort out transport to the repair centre.

rik
Got a call from the body shop yesterday, they wanted to show me a couple of things on the car! Popped in on them this morning to have a look and was mighty impressed Basically there was a slight crease in the chassis rail that he had already pulled straight, but he wanted to tell me about it as i didn't think the chassis was damaged! Also the air con condensor was a bit tired, and he wondered if i wanted to get a replacement before he re assembled it all. What impressed me was how thorough he was being to ensure that it was as straight as an arrow, and he proceeded to use an assortment of measuring devices to show me that all was true. These blokes clearly know what they are doing.

rik
Another visit to see how things were going today, and things are looking good. All masked up for paint Only problem is the lights are not fitting up properly, seems there's something missing??? They were on the phone to toyota when i got there to see if there is a part that i haven't got. If anyone has a picture of their car similar to the close up one i've put up here, with the headlight removed it would be handy.

rik
I'm not sure if they will be any use but I have a couple of the other side.... Yeah that'll help, thanks. Looks like the light sits on the wing aswell as the cross member. I thought there might be some sort of bracket that bolts to the cross member which the light would bolt to, but perhaps it bolts to part of the wing instead. Hopefully they will have sorted it out after speaking to Toyota. Perhaps it will all become clear once the wings have been put back on.
michael
This is the bit the lights bolt onto - the 3 holes are arrowed (a while since I did it but I think this is right?)....
Jezz
I think the front edge of the lights sit on the bumper rail? So if its not on, they might be a bit scew wiff. Also the headlights only mount to the inside of the wing by 2 bolts, and one right on the top of the slam panel. Nothing behind afaik.

I suggested that was the problem but they said they had previously tried to fit the lights up with the bumper support bar in place, but no luck. I think maybe they've removed it now for painting seperately.

Yeah, i think I know what's happened. I think they must have tried to fit the lights up without the wings on. Cheers, all!
