edinlexusV8
Hey folks, IE9 pre beta is available for all us for a preview at the following link. It has HTML5/GPU Acceleration support and a new javascript engine. I dont think it will break any speed records but it is supposed to be quite a bit faster than IE8. http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/

JustGav
hahahahaha, now that has made me chuckle I'm just glad they have finally decided to embrass a standard such as HTML5 and not to ignore it. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/03/19/programming_open_data/ (From the other day)
Attero
It's all good with the speed and JavaScript engine seems a lot better BUT I'm still not convinced they will provide a decent rendering engine. Unless they pick up their pace on the Acid3 score, I'm not going to like this. That 55 is way too low still.

Attero
I can't watch the video because I'm on my blackberry, but is there any news on the improvement on their rendering engine? As far as I'm aware, the browser is a complete and utter joke until it's rendering engine is deemed a competition or satisfactory compared to the top browsers. Attero
Apparently an Acid3 score of 95/100. That's not half bad. And they the last 5 were javascript errors. I'm really interested to see how this pans out.
edinlexusV8
MS is releasing IE9 Beta today. It has some very interesting features, some new to IE and others new to all other browsers. Have seen quite a few initial reviews that came across very positive about IE9. Can IE9 temp me to change my favorite browser, Google Chrome? Will it blow me away?? Let us see ... Attero
Jesus, how many tabs can you fill in that space between the URL bar and the side of the browser? It's looking positive though.

Scott
I liked chrome but I went back to IE as there just isn't enough on it for me. Is it the favourites that's a PITA? Or is it the History? I can't even remember. One of them didn't seem to exist for me though.
edinlexusV8
Yeah I have been using Chrome for more than an year now and it has been my default browser coz of its speed and also I like the way it is laid out easy and intutive. But I think MS is making some good progress on the IE9 and it looks very much promising. Hardware acceleration and HTML5 are the key now and MS is the totally putting their effort to get the best of these two. Due to the number of PC in the world right now, MS came to figure out that the average number of cores is around 2.45. So they are trying quite hard to get a a parallel javascript thread running on the second core to increase the performance and also increase the processing power by using graphics memory for displaying stuff on the screen through the browser. This is an interesting video too ...
