had a look at this supra today in the day light and i have noticed lots of things that put me off first of all you where right guys on my other thread the back bumper was a different shade and the front pannel was a different shade so somthings weird there!! the wheels had huge amounts of chunks taking from the metal!! the main thing that got me was the engine there was no service history she didnt have a clue when it had been serviced the cambelt was brittle, very dry, and had cracks on looked like it had not been changed for a long time!! the oil filter looked ancient. i mean the wheels etc were not a huge problem but it was the history of the serving of the engine seems to me it had not been serviced for atleast 1 or 2 years!! so i suppose the hunt continues but when you look at a car you kno if the feeling is right to get it and this just wasnt for me!! gutted anyway but hey have to keep looking. do you think i have done the right decision??

The plastic front and rear bumpers are often a different shade, especially on the silver cars. UV light effects the paint in a different way.

You could have haggled it down and bought it, replaced the cambelt and job done.

2900 was the lowest she would go

I would mention to the OP that unless it had a non stock timing belt cover or the owner let you remove the cover, that the belt you observed was the fan belt which often has little cracks in it with age........this one does sound bad from your description but I wouldn't worry about it if the next one you look at is the same but in all other aspects good.

Got to be happy with your purchase so I think you did the right thing, best of luck with the next one :)

Hmm, wasnt this what every one more or less said in your other thread?

I dont see issues with no servicing as long as the car is cheap enough. £2500 might have been worth it.

Mine had no history at all showed 150k on the clock and couldnt tell when it was converted from km to miles.

I want to put a TT engine in it so i refuse to service it. One year on its still going strong dyno showed it was only 8bhp down on stock. Have not even bothered to change the oil since i brought it.

I suspect as was said, the belt you saw was the fan belt not the cam belt.

Don't let service put you off, I bought my TT with hardly any service. The guy I brought it from had receipts but that was all, a lot of history can be lost when these cars are imported. He told me has not serviced the car in a year & a bit but his hardly driven it. The brakes were shot & I knew it needed a proper service, the guy was geniue & I went with my gut choice after using the points for haggling she was mine.

Once I got it I spend £1100 at Whiftblitz to get belts changed along with all fluids & de-cats pipe put on. The car was amazing when I brought it, idling etc & power delivery very smooth an nearly a year on it is still going strong! Produced 352Bhp at the last dyno at SRR at nearly stock boost (0.8) and all I did wad service & remove the cats.
