CJ
I am looking to buy a new pair of sandals for the forthcoming season and in great Top Gear tradition was wondering what you lot thought of these 2 offerings. Are they Sub Zero, Cool, Uncool or Seriously Uncool. The first are by Birkenstock and the second by a company called Cushe Manuka So, what do you reckon? CJ
You know the club is going downhill when we start discussing sandals:d I know, but as I am on my feet for approximately 1600 hours in the season, what you may consider banal is to me important So, come on - which ones are cool or not? AndrewOW
I prefer the Cushe Manuka's, but maybe this thread needs a poll, or then again, maybe it doesn't. Maybe having a poll should have a poll. Or maybe not. I could totally see you in a pair of these though
ilicos
Either, but to go sub-zero they will need to be worn with nice white ankle-socks;)

Lbm
Either, but to go sub-zero they will need to be worn with nice white ankle-socks;) Quite right. Look here Col - This man was wearing these on a nice evening's boat trip around the South coast of Skiathos, August 2007. I was there. I was very taken by his footware, so naturally I whipped out the camera to document my absolute joy in seeing the items in question actually being worn. By a German no less. Perfect. I think they're mega and you'd do well to buy several pairs (inc socks) as you'll be so delighted with them you'll no doubt wear the first pair out all too quickly. Thanks for posting this thread as I've been meaning to show this photo on here for 2½ years now: Let's see some pics up soon eh?

stevie_b
I like the Cushe Manukas: they have fine lines, and sit nice and low on the deck. However, I notice that the Birkenstocks seem to have primarily been purchased by ladies for their other halves. FACT: ladies are more fashionable than I will ever be. Therefore the Birkenstocks win. I see (predominantly German) people like him all through the summer along with the Brits who tend to go for the "bright red sunburnt skin along with trainers without socks and football shirt" look. I think you are onto something here. I showed them to two female friends of mine (yes, I do have some - friends that is) and they both chose the Birkenstocks over the Cushe Manukas although surprisingly, they both said that the Cushe one's were more "trendy" but the Birkenstock looked as if they would offer more comfort over the night.
