2nd turbo not engaging after hibernation

after standing still for 3 month except for a short blast a month ago, the 2nd turbo don't want to come online. All else is well and it pulls smoothly to redline but no 2nd turbo.

 

Where to look?

after a standstill as well? I'm thinking it has something to do with the vacuum system but that is just weird since my vacuum is fine a 0.7 bar and why should that stop working when the car has been holding still?

Have you checked all the vsv's to make sure they are holding current? Check the actuators aswell. There are a few guides in the Technical section, do a little bit of a search.

But can they seize up from standing a few months? And to my recollections, they are more or less immovable by hand.

It will most likely be your IACV VSV.. This stops the 2nd turbo online coming online. It's quite a common problem You should be able to pick one up 2nd hand. Not sure how much they are new.

We get the same problem when the car comes out winter storage.

Same happened last week.

First check your IACV VSV by revving the car up to 4000rpms and if the actuator moves then your IACV is fine.

Next check your EGCV VSV and the pipes from the vacuum steel pipes .

When we replaced the rubber pipes leading to steel ones it solved our problem.

If all fails try the TTC mode to check you second turbo.

Thanks! I figured it out. It was a hose to the IACV VSV that had popped off (should have known that since it did it two years ago as well)
