Supra Pilot
Hey Dude, looks like you got yourself a pretty good car there(apart from the front of course) The soop with the flip paint you posted, do you have a front or a front/side profile shot of it, I am trying to figure out the the front spoiler? Dom
MONKEYmark
hi dudersvr sounds like you dont mind the work.and with front off you might as well get a fmic save doing it later.bet it will look smart when you have done. you will have to post some pics when you have finished it. i am a bit wary of getting car sprayed or even stuff like spoilers or bumpers in case they dont match to original colour.i have a couple of nicks i need sorting and spraying.and engine rocker cover too.also would like a trd rear spoiler with carbon center. where you order your body parts from.i thought they did not like sending bodykits through post. the supra front bumper is so flimsy and flexible.my mate lee bought a front nizmo 400r splitter for his skyline and it looks solid have fun doing your car

dude
Mark dont let the fact youve got metalic paint put you off , just make sure whoever does the work does not attempt to go edge to edge , met. should allways be 'blown, oh errrr' into the next panel , in other words if you wanted to paint your door the PAINT would go half way into the front and rear wing and then all the panels laquered over , to give you an example we did a nissan 300 a while ago the guy asked us to take off a large decal in the middle of the bonnet which was under the laquer , it was not poss. to match his paint (met. blue ) as it looked like a throw all the blues in a pot job , so we covered the damaged bit in as close a shade as we could get and faded it out before we got to the edge of the bonnet so the original colour was the same where it met the wing then laquered over it , the guy was chuffed to bits and couldnt see the join , it stuck out like a sore thumb to me but he couldnt see it , there again i knew it was there . dude
Andrew if your interested ive got the colour chips for all the chameleon effect colours in the car i could let you know what all the flips are . Andrew Dunk Shaw
Hi John, I have a good mate up here in the w mids who owns a bodyshop and have spoke to him about painting my car in the chameleon effect paint, he thinks it'll be quite expensive to do as the paint is around £300 a litre ?, then you have all the prep wrk ie: if i was doing mine i'd want all the glass out, doors, tailgate, rear areo wing, front bumper, side skirts and bonnet taken off. My paint on the car is in good nick so im a bit loathed to spend a fortune on repainting it. How much would you think to do it properly including all the door bonnet and tailgate shuts ? I spend like its my last day on the planet allready Regards Andrew
dude
Andrew dont hold me to this because ive not had a good look at my sup yet but re your comments 1 glass out , why??? the front and rear screens are bonded so all you got to do is take the trims off , likewise i would think on the door , just take the trim off 2 yup the doors gotta come off , but hoprfully the wiring is on a multiplug (for a show job you would strip the door right down ) 3 underbonnet , i noticed my inner wings etc are not body colour they are a matt grey , so thats how i will leave them 4 tailgate , really thats got to come off as well to do a proper job 5 front and rear bumpers again if you want to be real fussy they gotta come off if i had to quote on a supp for a colour change we would start at a £1000 + materials and go up depending on what we decided to take off . As far as paint goes i can get chameleon flip for £250 inc of the base coat , i reckon to use no more than 3 litres on mine , allthough i will let you know on that one , remember 3 liters of the flip will thin down to allmost 6 litres thats 6 gunfulls and it wont take much more than a gunfull to get round the car , in the spec sheet that comes with the paint it tells you to apply no more than 3 coats of the flip effect otherwise you start to lose it . i would imagine £2000 all in would see most people happy with what they got back , to give you an example this firebird was a multicoloured shit box with holes in it from rust and none of the panels fitted this cost £1500 and it looks a million times better but you know what they say 'you cant polish a turd ' John:twak:
MONKEYmark
sounds like we have found the cw of the spray painting.would like to get something like a tvr paint they look the dogs doo dars. have you seen that tvr where bottom half of car is like a bluey green and blends into another colour up top.dont know if its a flip paint or what.i have always loved brilliant white car with a trd bodykit.what sort of price would a standard colour be.like an off the shelf colour, say a cossie blue or that new rover car that looks a bit like an evo its a real deep blue.bet the supra would look good in that. also if you got some parts like rocker cover and some small bits like strut tower rings and maybe dash plastics.would 1 ltr be loads of paint for job. would like to see some of your handy work up close.that red american car looks well.dont think i would have bottle to go them mad colours like the chameleon flip pics you have just posted. i think this looks smart
dude
Mark the tvr's are basically a cameleon flip as such i would think even standard tvr colour would be expensive , normal paint is between £25 and £45 a litre depending on pearl/mica content .
