Neil-NA
I have just moved into a house that i am renting and for the 1st time i have central heating. Just having some probs with it though, when the timer comes on the boiler keeps switching on and off every 30 seconds or so and now i have a light flashing saying low water pressure (only started this morning) The house just isn't getting warm even though the radiators are turned up to the max and are very hot. Any ideas? PS landlord says boiler got serviced 3 weeks ago if that helps.
China Man
Since you are renting I would just call landlord to come and fix it, especially if you don't know what you doin. There should be stopclock on two pipes into the bolider and both should always be cold, if you open both it top up the internals of the bolider and there should be a guage showing the pressure in bar. Call your landlord, thats what they are for!
stevie_b
Call your landlord, thats what they are for! Agreed. Boilers are surely the responsibility of the landlord. Your landlord might have a service plan with British Gas (or equivalent), but even so he still needs to give you the plan number/contact details/etc. I would be extremely surprised if you have to foot the bill for any of this. Thorin
Landlords job to fix it. I'd say you've either got a big airlock in the system somewhere, try bleeding all the radiators and around the pump. Either that or the radiators are all sludged up and there's a blockage so the water can't get pumped around properly. The boiler cuts off as a safety precaution, if the water isn't getting pumped around properly then the boiler detects the water temp rising and cuts off to prevent it getting too hot and exploding... Or something like that
Neil-NA
We spoke to the landlord who said there is nothing wrong with it and it had a service 3 weeks ago. Just because it was serviced very recently, doesn't mean it's not broken/faulty. I've been in a car that has broken down a few days after being serviced (because the garage cocked something up). By all means try to fix it if you think it's really simple to fix (e.g. system just needs repressurising), but be very wary of delving any deeper. If you cause further damage, the landlord might try to pin it on you. It's his responsibility to keep it working, regardless of when it was last serviced. I'm not going to touch it mate, these things scare me, will just wait for my dads friend to come over.

Your potentally opening a can of worms by getting anyone to touch the boiler, do not at anytime tell the landlord a mate had a look at it because the landlord will turn this around and blame you for the new fault if its got one. My dads mate is qualified in this line of work, its what he does, just found out the landlord is on holiday for 2 weeks, so i need something doing.
