garethr
I think it's a pretty standard gearbox, so any competent gearbox place should be able to do it. Might be worth checking on the Mk3 forum. There are some rebuild articles on the web, although they all seem to be the 4WD version. For example: http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/r151f/ There are also uprated parts available from Marlin Crawler (I think Driftmotion sell them). Chris Wilson
To fully strip and rebuild is not a five minute job, and, to be honest, if you did get it stripped you might as well put new bearings and synchro rings in it, for which price you could probably have been well on the way to a Getrag. I'd just fit it and hope.
bignum
Its only half a day to pull it back out again anyway, as chris said i`d try it 1st.
Racman
Half a day 1 1/2 hrs on the ramp to pull it out I hope but the trouble is once I go manual there's no going back and the car will be out of comission till its sorted that's really why I was thinking of getting it checked first but chris is right its worth taking the risk only problem Im aware of on this box is 1st gear trust washer which I have got from martin in the states hence why I was thinking of going this route
