how_supra
Does anyone out there know why having an additional driver on your insurance reduces the premium? I have heard that its something to do with the fact that if you have an additional driver, this person can drive you about if you had a crash, and the insurance company doesn't have to pay for taxi's etc. Now to me that seems very odd Does anyone else have any ideas
GeordieSteve
Maybe your less likely to drive like a t**t if you have someone more responsible with you? My misses (23, no no-claims etc) brings my insurance down by over £500. At least she's handy for some things

terribleturner
Yeah, but there was no mention of you actually driving it

Faye
Doesn't it depend on the history of the additional driver though? I tried to get Keith on mine last year and he was in his final year of 3 points, it would have pushed my premium up about £300.
Supragal
Yeah, spposedly you're seen as a more stable person if you are in a long term relationship etc Sometimes it does sometimes not- as Faye say's it depends on who! Mine stayed the same, actually I had to pay an admin fee but it was worth it for the convenience.
